I'm sure the people shouting for ILLEGAL immigration to be 'legal' would happily quarter said immigrants in their homes while they get on their feet after that long trek raping the women they brought with them in those caravans.
Buncha fucking hypocrites it's too fucking funny. You guys live in a fucking fantasy world

Not my house, but I helped my Dad renovate a section of our church into short-term housing for refugees while they figure out their long term plans.
Meeting these people and hearing their stories is incredibly inspirational (and heartbreaking). They've dealt with challenges that I could never even imagine getting through.

This whole thing is like abortion. I can understand, though I don't agree with, banning abortion in "normal" cases.
I can not understand trying to ban abortion for victims of rape or non-viable pregnancies where the woman is going to die.
I can understand not wanting illegal immigrants, but I can not understand thinking it's ok for ICE to harass citizens and legal migrants. I can not understand being ok with the current administration retroactively making legal migrants illegal. I can not understand turning our backs on Afghan translators and troops that served with and aided our military and sending them back to the middle east with their families.
In construction we have lots of different types of people. People who hate illegal immigrants the most are the legal immigrants here who went through the process while abiding the law.

In my experience is seems like dislike of other immigrants has more to do with what countries they are from rather than legal status.
How many citizens and legal migrants are being harassed? How is this different from being harassed by the cops?
I'm just curious because i've been harassed by cops plenty of times but I don't decide to throw a temper tantrum about it.

I love how it evolves. First it was, "we are only going after violent criminals and lazy welfare leeches". Then they started raiding places of work and the excuse was, "coming here illegally makes them violent criminals". Now there is no pretense and all illegals must go with the new evolution being going after people that are operating within the legal migrant framework to become citizens or legal residents.
The people attending immigration hearings are illegal? You can't be illegal if you're following the fucking law.
The people that all retroactively had their residence revoked because the administration didn't like their country of origin were illegal? They only got residency by having a fucking job, not being a criminal, and following the fucking law.
When a new president gets elected in 2028, if they start kicking out all the people from SA that moved here on Trump's invitation and these people haven't committed a crime -- I'd be just as upset.
Yea i'm not sure. all i see is a bunch of blue haired freaks throwing rocks at cops.
You keep claiming that tehy're arresting US citizens. what the fuck do you expect when you're lighting shit on fire.
WE HATE FASCISM SO WE'RE GOING TO BURN SHIT DOWN AND CAUSE ANARCHY!!!!

Read my next sentence nice and slow.
Yea, I'm talking about ICE. ICE shouldn't be arresting/detaining citizens and legal residents. Police should be arresting/detaining citizens. Taken even further, THE MILITARY SHOULD NOT BE IN LA DETAINING ANYONE.
I have no problem with people that assault cops getting arrested and facing consequences, but Trump pardoned people that did exactly that. At the same time, cops shouldn't be shooting people in the head from 5ft that are just trying to get home.
ICE was create because of the Patriot Act. The notorious piece of legislation that every American, regardless of political affiliation, used to hate before DJT weaponized it. Everyone used to shit on Obama for using Patriot Act powers, but when Trumper does it, it is ok?
VTshredder69Don't fucking dare compare ungrateful angry people to our forefathers. So sick of spoiled brat children pretending they have a cause.

The constitution does indeed say, “if you are protesting peacefully on the west side of town, and someone on the east side of town sets a car on fire, you no longer have the right to assemble and you should be arrested”
It’s right after the line that says “If you’re suspected of being illegal or say something wrong about Israel, you can and shall be arrested and held by masked officers who do not offer identification. Being a citizen or being here legally does not protect you from this act. Due process does not apply.”
well good luck. I'm sure your point of view means a lot on a ski forum. Light a few cars on fire for me.

This rhetoric is where the media loses the plot with the average American. The vast majority of the people that are "here legally" and are now getting deported (Kilmar Garcia et al) did not enter the country legally. Nearly all of them were granted temporary relief from deportation pending their asylum hearings or were improperly granted asylum by activist judges. That is now being reversed.
No matter how hard you try to gaslight us into believing that those qualify as "here legally", we don't buy it.
As for the Palestinian activists that you seem to love, the government's claim has generally been that they lied on their visa applications regarding their connections to various terror groups, rendering their visas invalid. I don't know if that's true or not, but as someone who has to provide the government a comprehensive list of all my foreign contacts each year, I take it pretty seriously.
Does your internal monologue kick in when you're writing this?
Even by your own admission it isn't all and you don't know if what the Trump admin claims is true.
It seems like you blindly accept whatever is convenient. When I make claims here, I provide sources -- sometimes those counter to my own opinions to balance things out.
I tell you I'm open to your thoughts, and changing my own opinion, if you could share a smidge of evidence yet you fail to do so.

LAPD officials say the protests were peaceful until the National Guard arrived.
The National Guard came after the Governor of California expressly said they didn't need help.
This was an intentional move to escalate the situation.
Antagonizing protesters into violence and then using that as justification to impose stronger military presence or funnel more power to a leader is fascism 101.
Here's a quote from Trump in 2020 about the protests in Portland:
"We have to go by the laws. We can’t move in the National Guard. I can call insurrection but there’s no reason to ever do that, even in a Portland case. We can’t call in the National Guard unless we are requested by a Governor."
Oh, and it’s going to cost like 130 million to send in the National Guard.

False. Ice agents were being attacked on sat. The guard did not arrive on the streets till Sunday. Yes shit really started hitting the fan after the guard arrived but people were already committing violent acts prior to that. People get arrested all the time for throwing rocks off bridges at moving vehicles. This is no different. This is attempted murder.

Yeah, my bad. An LAPD official just said they had things under control until the Guard got there.
Yeah, they get arrested by the LAPD.
Also, why the fuck are the Marines there? These are protesters, not ISIS.

I agree. Absolutely zero reason to be deploying marines. That’s just insane. I do understand why the guard was deployed but they shouldn’t be acting in a law enforcement capacity. Protecting federal agents and federal buildings is a different story.

Yeah, no idea why it did that. But I’m right.
Donald Trump does not believe in freedom. He doesn’t believe in the Constitution. He doesn’t believe in democracy.
Anyone who thinks what he’s doing actually makes sense from a humanitarian or economic standpoint should seriously reevaluate.
Look at what’s happening in Palestine. Look at how the rest of the world is reacting. Look at how much money he’s spending. Look at who’s getting the tax cuts.
Anyone who can justify the bombing of hospitals and the starvation of women and children is delusional.
Anyone who thinks America doesn’t rely on its allies is delusional.
Anyone who thinks Trump has any intention of making life better for the average person is delusional.

Yeah, sure, but the fact that the governor didn’t want them to come is very concerning. It shows that Trump views his power as absolute.
Anyone who believes in politics is delusional.
Anyone who believes in destroying their own city for 'justice' is delusional.
Anyone who gets angry on a ski forum over politics is delusional.

Sometimes local officials are wrong and unfortunately in this case they are wrong. They may not have “wanted” them there but they needed to be there. These riots were always going to escalate. The difference is because the guard showed up far less damage and destruction occurred. If the guard would have been deployed during the blm riots right away far less damage would have occurred. Same goes for Jan 6. If the guard would have been deployed the rioters would have never been able to enter the capital and cause the damage they did or hurt the officers that were attacked.

Maybe, but you're just pulling that out of your ass. You have no knowledge of the LAPD's abilities and what force or presence would have been necessary to keep things from escalating. Had things gotten out of hand, the governor could have called in the Guard himself.
I think under a different president, people would not have opposed this move as much, but it’s worrisome when a president who is clearly not interested in following the law makes moves like this.

This doesn’t answer what I said and is just steering the conversation in another direction because you know I’m right.
But:
"Anyone who believes in politics is delusional"
This is just stupid. I agree that basically every politician has or will do something kinda shady but just giving up on the only system we have to bring about change is stupid and weak minded.
"Anyone who believes in destroying their own city for 'justice' is delusional"
You’re overexaggerating the destruction caused by this protest. The point of protest is to draw attention to an issue and smashing a couple of cars draws a lot more attention than holding a sign and walking down the sidewalk. We can argue about the merits of the protest itself all day but the fact is that damaging property during a protest is one way to get attention.
"Anyone who gets angry on a ski forum over politics is delusional"
That makes two of us. And the platform used for discussion is irrelevant.
Think before you talk and ask yourself if what you’re saying is just made up and sounds good or if it actually holds up.
