Ski Gear 2025

Welcome to the home of 2024 - 2025 ski gear on Newschoolers. There's LOTS of new goodness coming your way this season, so before we build the rest of the guide, we wanted to give you a sneak peek at what's new.

Atomic
The entire Bent line gets new, more environmentally friendly cores. The 110 keeps the same shape while the Bent 100, perhaps the biggest seller in the family, gets a new shape too, moving it closer to the 110 with more rocker both tip and tail. The Bent 120 gets some tweaks too, but the slightly stiffer construction is most notable.

One of our long-time staffers @p3t3r recently went on a trip to Utah last week with the Atomic team to test out some of their new gear in varied terrain and he had a couple words to share. "The new Bent 120 skied effortlessly in powder and slightly shorter than it’s actual length due to such a playful early rise. It truly started to shine once you get going on them and has a very freestyle oriented mounting point making it a really fun ski to butter around on, even with the new stiffer flex. The snow was so good that it didn't get as much of an outing, but the new Bent 100 shape is a huge improvement on the current model, offering a much looser feel in the tail and more access to pop too."

Armada
Armada are bringing plenty of freshies to the plate for '24-25. Perhaps the most notable headline is the overhaul of the wider skis in the ARV/ARW collection, with a new ARV 106 and an ARV 112 to replace the old 115. With two graphic options in each shape (ARV & W share identical construction), there's plenty to choose from. There's also a pro model ski for Kim Boberg, called the Kimbo, which is a fusion of elements from the BDog, ARV, and Stranger skis, and should be a ton of fun.

Line

Line made big changes to their freestyle skis in '23/24, so that lineup carries over with new graphics and a new Bacon 122 thrown into the mix. The Chronics, Bacons, Blends, TBLs and TWalls all return unchanged. The Blade Optic series drops the Blade moniker and is now just called Optic, with the narrowest model, the 88, getting an overhaul. There is also a full new lineup of Vision skis, based on the Optic shapes but with lighter cores and no metal. Finally, the Pandora series gets brought into the unisex sphere, with 4-brand new skis, which share some DNA with the Sick Days/Pandoras of previous years, and ranging from 85 to 106.

Scott
Big news from Scott as they are back with a whole new lineup of freestyle skis, ranging from 88 to 116mm. The new collection is called SEA (Ski Everything Anytime), which is pretty damn cheesy but the skis look amazing and we're stoked to see them returning to the freestyle space. The 108 in particular looks like a crazy versatile freeride/freestyle blend. We reckon you're going to see lots of them on the hill next season, with a limited release this season (in Europe at least).

Rossignol

The big news at Rossignol is that there are no more Black Ops. Well, technically the trusty 98mm ski that has gone under many monikers, is now called 'Super Black Ops' and comes in a retro neon blue and pink guise. The Black Ops 118 is replaced by a Sender Free 118, which shares similar construction with the 110mm version under the same name.

Dynastar

The big news at Dynastar is in the wider MFrees. A new MFree 112 replaces the previous 118mm version, and while that might seem close to the 108, it has a longer turn radius so should be more of a straightliner's kind of ski. We're hearing rumours of MFree Ti versions too but haven't seen them yet. The 108 returns but with a new sizing run, which was (over)due. The new 185mm length will be welcome news to mid-size skiers and there is also a 178/192.

K2

With K2, everything freestyle is new. There is a whole new lineup of Reckoner/ReckonerWs, ranging from 102 to 124. There is also a complete overhaul of the construction and new widths too. They now run 102, 110, 114 & 124. Perhaps most exciting, the 114mm width is Karl Fostvedt's pro model, with a signature soft flex and unique shape. On the park side of things, the Poacher/Sight finally get an update as part of the new 'Omen' series (Team (96), 90 & 85mm widths). There's also a new Mindbender 106c, to provide a more forgiving alternative in the midfat range of that series.

Look
There is big news at Look, they are changing the Pivot 15/18... slightly. The changes relate to the heelpiece, but don't worry, the turntable remains the same. The DIN screw is now the industry standard crossheads, which will be nice for techs. But perhaps most importantly, they tweaked the shape of the brake arms to accommodate greater BSL adjustment. Oh, and they added some bumpers for all you dweebs who kick their skis off and smash up the housing.

Faction

Faction are sticking with the tried and tested formula, though some of the names have changed. The Mana series is no longer, with the wider skis becoming part of the Studio line. The Prodigy series returns with only graphical updates. The 'X' versions of the skis are identical construction with different topsheets.

Salomon
Salomon are back, although they are apparently doing their utmost not to advertise it. There's a new QST X, a 116mm lightweight powder ski that could be a great option for touring. And then there's the new secret ski that we've all been waiting on for what feels like a decade now. It's 106mm underfoot, and... that's all we can tell you for now, other than it's fucking fun. The QST series is back in new colors but unchanged otherwise, though the QST Echo (a touring layup 106) gets a full rollout.

Volkl

There's nothing much new in the freestyle line at Völkl, but the graphics this year are the best in forever. They remind us of OG Völkl Walls and Bridges, so they get a paragraph here even though the skis are unchanged.

Fischer

Fischer are expanding (and properly rolling out) their Nightstick series. One of the best park skis at the NS Ski Test, the 97mm version is a blast. Now there are wider widths too.

Elan

Elan add a wider Playmaker to the already well loved 101 and 91. The new 111 width means that line now covers pretty much all the bases. The shape is similar to the narrower skis but with more rocker. It's super light too making it a very viable touring option.
