There are different types of conservatism. The 2 main categories are Social and Economic. Social, as how we act as people and economic, which is economic policies that the government uses to run a country.
The further right you go on social, the more you prefer policies that encourages benefiting the self and the further left you go, the more you prefer benefiting society. Think diversity policies, abortion, allocation to social programs.
Economic is usually free market vs government regulated (state owns the businesses). Economic rightists believe that the market will always fix itself. Business selling deadly product? Aften enough deaths and injuries, people wont buy that product and business goes under. Deaths caused by the product was consumers discretion. So market fixed!
Leftists believe government should regulate and oversee businesses and correct the market when problems arise. Read keynesian theory vs free market. You will then understand 10% of macro economics.

I can't imagine what I was like to grown ass adults when I was shitposting as a kid but I guarantee it wasn't favorable. Not that I have any sort of popular opinions in political threads as an adult either. There's a lot of valid reasons why anyone would choose one side or the other.
I wish trying to get to the root of understanding was more a priority for people instead of having an identity and feeling the need to defend it incessantly against nonsense.
