You're right on the centered stance, but tail rocker allows the tail to sink, which allows the tip to rise up.

How much do those two factors cancel each other out do you find? I always figured having the early rise counter acted the stance a bit but was always more for switch landings than it was float.

Depends a lot on the combo of the two, a -2cm mount with a very shallow tail rocker will create the feeling you're familiar with, while a -6cm mount with hefty tail rocker will start to lead towards more float.
There's a lot of other factors to consider but that's a fairly general view of their relationship
