I think this applies way more to the free ride community than park. Usually, if you’re not snaking people and being an utter jackass, most people I’ve met are pretty chill who lap park.

I guess but the gender ratio is def a lot better on the skintrack, and it's not that people are assholes in the park it's more so that a lot of guys give off a "I'm too cool to talk to you" vibe, but I'm probably just projecting that and they aren't talking cause they're baked as shit lol

I relate to this struggle big time, for some reason it always feels easier to say what up to people on the skintrack than in the park, evern though egos in the backcountry are usually much bigger

i’m the opposite, on the mountain i’m really outgoing, idk i’m just really happy and energized there.
skatepark is almost the opposite, i’m so locked in that i don’t want to get caught up in small talk and can forget to socialize

dude i swear people project shit onto park skiers, even park skiers themselves. the guys i run into on the lift riding twintips and baggy pants are always down to earth and talkative and chill.

whats hilarious is that there is an r/skiing equivalent for seemingly everything. I've been learning how to shoot on 16mm recently and I found cinematography.com which is kind of like cinematography newschoolers and thank god I did because r/16mm and r/cinmatography are filled up with jabronis exactly the way r/skiing is. I have a homie who does analog photography and he says the same thing, there are great old school forums out there and reddit is where the discussion goes to die. There are always a few people on reddit who know what they are talking about but it's like 80% people who know nothing but want to pretend like they are experts for internet points

I’ve got an arriflex 16 S/B, one of the cameras IDEA was filmed on. The arri 16st and 16 s/b were the go to cameras for a lot of ski and snowboard content back in the 90s/00s but there are def better cameras out there (that cost 15k or more).
I get my film processed at Negativeland and they send it back to me on a hard drive. 100ft (about 3 mins of film at 24fps) costs about 70$, not including the cost of the film itself which is similar. Needless to say I will not have a ton of money for ski gear this fall!
