wish i had a group of friends who liked the same music as me. one of my roommates has some good overlap but i literally have nobody to talk to about obscure stuff. music is basically all i think about and it sucks yapping about it to people who are disinterested.
some prick is suing the rockies for being bad lmao. says that they are so bad that people in the luxury suites don’t even watch the games which is why he took a foul ball to the face. happy to see the rockies don’t take no shit and have doubled down by putting up the worst first 50 game record in mlb history lol.
i’m starting to enjoy being basically unemployed. just enough money for gas and food but i’ve read two hemingway books in the past three days and just ripped a bunch of FS Fitzgerald short stories off the gutenberg project. Can’t wait to go to the martin house with my dad tmr, then lunch with my ex’s dad. I’ll probably erg or run after too!
I had a 22oz beer at Laguardia airport in March that was $20.50 before tip.
Zurich airport got me for $8 for a 20 oz water bottle.
Wasn't there a viral story about someone's $40 beer at one of the nyc airports? Yet another reason to avoid that miserable city
My beer in helsinki was in a cafe in a park, but the prices everywhere else in the city look the same. This seems like a very nice place to spend a summer it you're rich enough not to care about the cost of food and drink. I'm already missing my $6 pints at breweries in SLC

One pack of cigarettes is like 13€. Chain smoking is not for the poor.
Alcohol is expensive as hell in Finland but I don’t think Helsinki prices are that bad compared to, for example, Denver. I’ll be spending some time there this summer. I love Helsinki. Hesburger is whatever. Finns love it but I swear they take forever to make your food and it always gives me a stomachache.
Trying the fish was a good call. It’s interesting. Did you get the reindeer with the mash potatoes and lingonberry?
SlushSeasonI have 24 hours in helsinki before flying back to the US
I knew Finland was expensive but I wasn't quite prepared for how crazy the prices are
I just paid 11.5€ for a pint of beer, and that seems pretty normal here.
SlushSeasonI haven't had it yet. I couldn't remember the name when I was looking for lunch today. Theres one a few blocks from my hotel, is it something I need to try?
I had a bunch of fried vendace fish for lunch and some reindeer for dinner

I didn't realize denver has gotten so pricey. I remember $8 pints being standard there just a few years ago
And yes, i had the reindeer with potatoes and lingonberry, it was very good. Along with the salmon soup for breakfast today
I didn't get Hesburger, but it sounds like i didn't really miss out
The pints aren’t as expensive but I meant overall, it’s comparable. I think it’s the alcohol tax in Finland. You can find cheaper alcohol in Helsinki. I probably usually spend around 7-10€ for a pint depending on the place.

Why would you need pints when you have this available

One thing I forgot to mention is Long drink. You probably missed out on that.
My father in law legit used to drink that until he discovered ordering cheap German beer online. But I can’t hate because he’s always got free beer for me for the sauna

We have the company Long Drink in the USA now. Owned by Finns and, tbh has a weird aftertaste, but it’s close enough. My buddy is actually head of Colorado for Long Drink. Finnish American guy. Big skier. Used to ski Pusu too.
I remember thinking “this would sell well in USA” when I first visited Finland. They’ve done a great job with awareness and spreading their brand

That cheap shit has a nickname "copper". I have never tried it but I have heard it's terrible.
Nice to see someone spreading the word in the freedomland. Your buddy sounds like a legend.
I haven't tried Long drink either but everyone drinks it so it must be good.
Got 32% on my physics exam :D. 25% was required to pass. Multiple choice was a scam. Playing lottery didn't work. Got 4/14 correct. I kinda got every open ended question right but I didn't know how to explain them so I lost million points. Calculations didn't go well. Pass is a pass.
Ya boi is not going to be an engineer unless I find physics interesting again when I find my way to university.

VTshredder69it just seems odd that you only need to get 25% of the exam correct to pass.
How much is usually required over there?
That 25% might be adjusted with the grades. I'm pretty sure the normal is 30% in everything except maths.
Our high school and university applying system is completely based on your 5 best final exam grades. Course grades are there just to track your progression.
interesting. I guess here 60% and above is passing.
But each test leads to the final grade.

yeah 60% in high school and 70% in college. only needing to know a quarter of the information to pass is fuckin wild lol. i would not trust a doctor over there lol

Totally depends on the class/exam in college
I've had some engineering tests where 30% was a passing grade. Sometimes the professor just gets a little too ambitious with the material and has to make up for it in the scoring
I've never heard of anything like that in high school though

I'd say our high school is overall more challenging. More information. Lil deeper than what I have heard about your high school. Most who are barely passing will not do good enough to get to med school. One course is 6 weeks long divided in to 3 classes per week. Each course is worth 2 credits. You need to get 150 credits in 3 years or 3,5 if you are lazy like me.
It's the final exams that brings the challenge. Real term for them is matriculation examination. Atleast 5 of them is required. One AP and native language is mandatory. Then you get to choose a combination between 2nd native, other languages and other subjects(History, Physics etc). Basically high school is just preparing you to those exams.
For example math exam includes topics from 12 or 13 courses. From algebra and basic geometry to calculus and 3d analytics. Social studies has information from the whole curriculum. All of the finals are 6 hour long picnics.
Grades from those are adjusted to a curve. Around 5% of top performers get the top grades. Those 5% are the people who can get into med school.
someone take chemistry away from me, apparently when you use aluminum as a cathode and run electricity through a hydrochloric acid bath it makes chlorine gas... i might be critically brain dead and should not have access to any chemical under any circumstance

Bruh doing just about anything with HCl is either gonna fill your room with hydrogen or chlorine gas. Take that shit outside
I used to put galvanized nails into HCl to produce hydrogen gas for fire balloons. Not something you want in your house

Lesson learned lol, in hindsight this was the most braindead thing I’ve ever done. It did remove the anodized layer though along with half the part
Pregnancy test. I woke up feeling like I should take one and holy shit it’s positive. I need to retest in a few days but it’s a good thing, we’ve wanted a baby.
