What's frustrating is that everyone else has been saying this for years. The fact that it took the bombing of a foreign country for conservatives to actually look at what he's doing and realize he's a deeply dishonest person who doesn’t care about the people who elected him or the promises he made to them. This is the same guy who has been blatantly lying to the public for years about almost everything. But if that’s what it takes, then that’s what it takes.
But you're right, the thing to do now is to look past this and try to address the actual problems we are currently facing as a united population.
That being said, I personally will not have any patience or grace for Trump supporters who:
A) pretend that this is fine and that Trump isn’t doing the exact things he said he wouldn’t do, and
B) admit they were lied to but want to pretend that this is completely “out of the blue” and nobody could have seen this coming.

I agree I was being a dick about it, but I'm not taking back the core idea that we shouldn't tolerate people who want to deny the fact that Trump lied to his voters after everyone else told them he was a liar.
You can call it sanctimonious, but I think it's just realistic. These delusions about Trump being a morally sound individual are how we got here in the first place. And when/if some conservatives accept they were lied to, they shouldn't expect sympathy.
I think conservatives will find that most left-leaning people's reaction to them talking about this will be something along the lines of "told you so." I agree that in hindsight that attitude is counterproductive and will make other conservatives even more entrenched in their views, but honestly, what can you expect?

If you are bored and interested in this topic I recommend you read peter rutland's politics of economic stagnation in the Soviet union (yes, a different country. God forbid we learn things from others). After that I'd suggest capitalist realism by mark fisher. These two books will help you gain the mindset of society's feelings about the future. This thought can be expanded to describe why a candidate like Trump or Obama would be a popular choice in an election.
To understand how Trump's campaign/ media works I would suggest Jean Baudrillard's Transparancy of evil and anything by Marshall Mcluhan.
If you want to know how social media plays a role, I'd read eli pariser's filter bubble or max fisher's chaos machine, and while I don't have a book recommendation I'd also read into the ELIZA program (you get a wiki pass on that one).
If you are interested in the war, you'd be best to learn about colonialism in the middle east, and look up Henry kissinger while you are at it. It's a complex subject and I am not super well read on the middle east, but I enjoyed lineages of revolt by Adam hanieh. You can back it up with more Jean Baudrillard and read the gulf war did not take place- this one covers a middle eastern conflict and how it was covered by the media, you can circle back to Mcluhan as well (I'm a fan).
All of these authors are smarter than me and everything I've listed is fairly politically neutral so I hope they can keep you company.

I understand people’s concern about how raising taxes could make the super-rich move away. That being said, nothing better demonstrates the fact that we shouldn’t have people with that much money. Money is power, and power should be allocated democratically.
Anyone who would rather move to another state or city to avoid giving an extra 2% of an income that’s already over 20 times the average income, to fund projects that improve quality of life for the average person, is inherently classist and frankly a bad person.

it's also not crazy to care about the state of your country, regardless of the specific scenario. i wouldn't bat an eye at democrats being upset at a republican mayor in LA. these big cities are what the world thinks of our country, and if they're being run like shitholes that's gonna leave a bad impression. lowkey though fuck what other countries see, it's just important to have nice cities. and whatever republicans lack in acheiving that, democrats lack it way more lol

I’ve basically seen zero actually valid criticism of his ideas. It’s just idiots calling him a communist or racist who can’t fathom the idea of a Muslim American.
People criticize him for "not being hard on crime," but NY has tried being hard on crime and it turns out dumping billions into the NYPD doesn’t make crime rates go down. Effectively nobody wants to be a criminal. People commit crimes out of desperation (at least the kind of crimes that Republicans care about, they’ll gladly turn a blind eye to the kind people commit out of greed). Without a doubt the best way to reduce crime and make the streets clean and safe is to address poverty, which boils down to addressing cost of living. Addressing cost of living is Zohran's entire platform.
I could write an essay (and people have) about how the deeper issue is wealth inequality and for the uber-wealthy to stay uber-wealthy they effectively need to keep the rest of the population (bottom 90%) from accumulating any meaningful wealth.
It’s deeply ironic that MAGA has become the right's catchphrase. But conservatives talk about how people lived better lives back then and never really touch on why things were better (for white, straight people). The main reason is that people had more money. The wealth distribution in the mid 1900s was much flatter than it is now and the top 1% controlled a smaller portion of the wealth.
Remember the widespread issues that people face in their lives were not caused by people with no wealth and power. They were all caused (or intentionally not resolved) by people with wealth and power.
