Hey I'm with ya there. I'm probably going to snag some BGs, either this years next years, since next years are supposed to be even more versatile. Then I'll either put some kingpins on them or the new Solly or BD tech on them.
Get Kingpins if you can. Or, if you are waiting till next season look into the new BD or Solly tech binders.
And yeah, I feel you on the boot. Especially if you don't need a new boot. You could always keep your current boot and put the tech toe on them. I think thats a couple hundred bucks.
Ugh. Don't do Beasts, just don't do it. There is literally no aspect where they are better than the other options on the market. Get chargy on Kingpins, or go lighter with Rad 2's or ION's, or go safer and better skiing with the Vipec, but don't settle for the obnoxious toe, no flat walk mode, having to screw a horseshoe onto your boot, and all the other BS that comes with Beasts.
_faaayou wont miss the flat tour mode. I am really happy with my Beast 14.
G3 Ion 12, Vipec 12, Raider 12/13 oder Radical are other pretty solid options with a flat tour mode. King Ping is overrated.
I agree that the ION and Vipec are great options, but I really don't think the Kingpin is overrated and I've seen too many exploded old Radicals to trust them for anything where I'm going to jump off stuff..
There's a reason the Beast goes away next year. It's a step back in the category of more huckable tech bindings.

The Vipec is after some updates an actual pretty solid and reliable tech binding. It features a safe horizontal release on the front toe too.
A touring buddy uses the Ion 12 on a gotama and shreds everything from BC to park. He never had big issues with it. Furthermore the Ion12 doesnt have as big problems with icing as the beasts/kingpins or Vipecs.
A Ion 10 without breaks on a Steeple 98 with a Atomic Backland Carbon or La Sportiva Spectre is my dream setup currently. But I think you re looking for something wider :D
Another +1 for the Kingpin here. Great binding, haven't had any issues with it so far. It is so nice to hear the heel click in akin to an alpine binding.
I think Sammy C in his recent film(?)/edit(?) was on them for the majority of it.
But don't skimp out on boots. If your feet hurt, you'll hate any binding.
signing paperwork this weekend and getting the financing all worked out with some help from my parents. wanted to get a Tacoma but my grandpa was an engineer for GM and our family is still eligible for employee discounts and got a pretty nice lease which I do plan on buying out sometime down the road.
2017 Chevy Colorado crew cab with a longbox. Want to get a cap for it and build some custom shelving and storage for skis/camping/climbing gear. Cant wait to beat the shit out of it and make it the do-it-all outdoor exploration machine.

Why not go for a full size if you went crew cab and longbed?

it was on the table but its pretty small still compared to a full size Silverado including the bed. to give you an idea, I have mostly 185-187cm skis that baaarely fit in the bed entirely.
got some pretty bangin residual on my old car as well which bumped my payments down to "Resort employee affordable" range. was almost 400/month compared to 220 which is cheaper than what I was driving when I was paying it off.

I should add 220/month isn't a smoking deal but fuck paying 400/month for a small truck like that.
pretty sweet truck so far. trying to find a pop-up tent for the back for camping adventures
Honestly i reaaaally dig poler stuff and their whole design scheme is fucking rad. But it's made in china BS, i would never ever ever buy anything from them besides tshirts/sweatshirts/hats

Ah. I have a Tacoma crewcab with a shortbed and I have to stick almost all my skis (from 184-191) diagonally in the bed.
I wasn't sure how much bigger a Silverado would be compared to the Colorado. I think the Tundra is quite a bit bigger than the Tacoma in fullsize.

This, I really like a lot of their designs and the whole vibe they're going for, but the stuff they make really isn't very high quality. Their tents are wayyy overpriced, and pretty terribly made on top of that.

Their store in laguna is such a sick spot and been to a few parties there, but threads pull out of one of my jackets constantly and my camp mug borderline melted
I was interested in getting one of these or similar products, but man are they expensive. Most are $2,000+. At that point I'd rather buy a cheap trailer.

My brother contacted like 5 other people using a tacoma forum. They were able to buy a pallet of cvt and it was cheaper
