Some pics from the radar base along with our cool Upper Peninsula UFO story.
The Calumet radome Air Force base was used as a early detection system during the cold war to scramble jets from either Duluth or Marquette to intercept any bombers or other aircraft coming from the artic circle.
In 1953 the radar station noticed an unidentified aircraft near the Soo Locks (eastern upper peninsula on the border of Canada) and scrambled an F-89C to intercept, pictured below.
The Air force jet pursued the unknown object west towards the keweenaw peninsula, where the radar station originally spotted it. The two radar blips approached convergence....and then simply disappeared from radar scopes.
The unidentified aircraft, and the F-89C with it's two airforce pilots, have never been found. No wreckage, no bodies. After the radar blips converged north of the keweenaw.
The Airforce explained it as a sudden attack of vertigo amongst the pilots, but all official records besides the transcripts of detecting, then losing the aircraft have been redacted or removed.

Mildly interesting
Still waiting to see a clip from the radar station just randomly appear in a street part in the future

That's because F-89 sucked balls and cost a lot of money to develop. The govt was trying to figure out how to get rid of them so they created a cover story for blowing them up and getting the insurance money. The pilots were secretly rescued and given new identities. This sorta thing happened many more times and a lot of these pilots became secret test pilots for top secret aerospace projects, during which the government created thousands of UFO stories and conspiracies to exaggerate and cover details of their tech being leaked.
fb memories of my old backyard setup in breck. lived in a house called the whib (worst house in breck) 3 blocks off main street. a few years before i lived there paul and delorme and some other shredders lived there and thats where tall t was born. its now a mansion that is legally the maximum size allowed on the lot because the hand dug basement was considered historic and they were able to add that in addition to floor plan. last i heard, that orange up rail was somewhere on loveland pass
The sheer amount of wrong way collisions on the highway just in my city is insane. I don't understand how people end up doing it. Sure maybe get on a confusing ramp, but to not recognize it and continue at highway speeds until you crash and die...wtf

story time: so when i was 18 my parents went to ouray for their 25th anniversary which i found rude because i was having a triple keg blacklight party at their house to celebrate. between 250-300 people showed up. all 3 kegs were kicked by midnight and i was worried that shit could only go downhill after that. luckily about 5 county sheriff vehicles show up with there lights on and everyone scattered into the woods. eventually i’m speaking with the cops and they ask me to call my parents. it was like 1:30 by this point. my dad picked up and asked why i was calling and i said ‘i just wanted to wish you a happy anniversary’ and then one of the deputies took my phone to speak with my dad. he asked ‘did you authorize a party with over 100 underage drinkers?’ he was fuckin livid lol. my old math teacher had to come pick up his son who was the sole person to get apprehended and cuffed. I opened the door and said ‘mr roberts?! i turned in my homework years ago!’ that joke didnt hit. gotta read the room sometimes
anyway it was my parents anniversary yesterday and they bring it up every year.
Which ones should I get of these choices based on graphics alone
