Today is the end of my time working at Newschoolers. It's weird typing that out as Newschoolers has been such a large part of my life. Thank you for the past 7.5 years of the best “job” I could’ve asked for coming out of college. Thank you for all the incredible experiences, lifetime friendships, and so much more.

I took my first “work trip” with NS to Windells in the summer of 2014 after Mousseau & Bishop invited me to join the crew for the NS week. This trip is when I knew I wanted to work for NS any way I could. After graduating college, I moved to Utah in 2016. I traveled to Finland for Ski or Die in 2017 then again in 2018, Montreal for iF3, Denver numerous times for movie premieres/Outdoor Retailer, Mammoth for Superpark 21, the list could go on & on. There have been so many fun memories that I’ll be able to look back on for the rest of my life.

Thank you to everyone all the Newschoolers staff, past & present, for getting me to where I am today: Jason Mousseau for taking a chance on some college kid who kept submitting GIFs to the Newschoolers Tumblr page because he wanted free gear and teaching me the ways of social media. Mr. Bishop for bringing me on full-time my senior year of college to become the head social media nerd and a guiding light in all things internet skiing, partying, and life. Twig for letting me write clickbait bullshit and helping me be on top of all the dope content posted to the site over the years. EHeath for sending me all the hottest clips he filmed in PC, dealing with me for 7 years on and offline, and now a few more since we’re co-workers yet again. Peter for making sure my life wasn’t an absolute mess when we had 1000 branded content things to post so that it all got posted when it needed to and someone to bitch to about how dumb the Ikon Pass posts you all love so much were. Zorko for further refining my organization skills, keeping me accountable at work, and making sure I had enough food & alcohol on work trips. Thank you to @travias @nutz. @Canaidan, Kyle McCann, Max Tane, James Taylor, Jason Audiss, and Hunt Ho who also helped me out immensely over the years. I’m going to miss working with the current crew so damn much.

Newschoolers wouldn’t be shit without the community. From the top tier shitposting in the forums to jaw-dropping movies/edits and anything in-between, you all carry on the Newschoolers tradition. As much as social media has taken a bite out of traditional sites over the years, this is still the heart & soul of the skiing world and for those of you that use NS, thank you for being here and giving me a job. Without this community, my life would not be what it is today and I can't imagine it being any other way.

Anywho, enough rambling. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Newschoolers and everyone I've met because of this website. See you on the internet!

All the love,

Matt Kretzschmar
