While it's important to acknowledge the historical and systemic issues in how crime policies have been applied, especially regarding racial disparities, it's an oversimplification to say that being "tough on crime" is only about arresting minorities. Public safety is a universal concern regardless of who you are. Crime trends are complex issues - I would be advocating for tougher policing if it was white biker-gangs peddling meth and causing chaos.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding your point, but you do realize that in the States there's still a large chunk of people who think private health care works better, right? You get called a communist for mentioning any kind of social program that might help people in poverty (unless, of course, it involves finding a new reason to spend tax dollars putting them in prison).
