ou're right that people need to feel heard (this is a major failure of the Dems, they don’t do anything and their whole platform relies on the fact that they aren’t the Republicans). But blaming it exclusively on "the global media/academic apparatus" is delusional at best. I'm not saying that the media don’t play a role, they do, largely due to private interests/ownership of news networks and social media/the need to "go viral." But demonizing journalists is not the answer. There are plenty of journalists out there who try very fucking hard to do a good job, but their work doesn’t see the light of day because of corporate agendas or fails to be attention-grabbing enough. You can thank capitalism for that.
The topics you mentioned have always been highly charged. Nobody is sigularly to blame, there will always be highly charged current issues. That’s the nature of democracy. In some ways, that’s a big flaw in democratic systems: by having scheduled races, the parties need to have topics to campaign on and debate. And they only get votes if they can get people to care.

Saying "if X politician was elected they would've done Y" is not really a good argument. Democrats have often done the same and made the excuse that Trump would've handled X issue worse than Biden to deflect criticism. Personally I don't expect politicians to be saints but I don't think it's too much to ask for them not cover up for pedophiles.

In the lead up to the election, trump said multiple times he was down to release the epstein files, while republican influencers and pundits call for the release of the files in the belief that it will damage the democrats. Then after being elected, Trump's AG says she has the client list on her desk. His adminstration then gives "epstein files: phase 1" to his favourite influencers, and my understanding is that files end up containing basically nothing aside from what's already public knowledge. Then they announce that the whole thing is a nothingburger, there's no client list, and there's nothing in 300GB of evidence to possibly incriminate anyone who was at the island. Then a bunch of these people in the media either go silent on this issue or fall in line with Trump, while he's calling people up basically telling them to drop it. Not to mention they've apparently found the footage outside the cell like 5 years later and it's been edited with premiere pro (solid choice of software imho) with a gap in the footage. Sorry for the rant but this situation is so insane, these people think we're so fucking stupid it aggravates me.

Then after he got out, it was difficult for any journalists to publish a proper investigative piece and to get the victims to talk to them. And then when it finally came out, the authorities had no choice but to arrest him. So I think it's pretty clear that he was pretty successful for a while in using his wealth and connections to avoid prison
