Ya my GT has full rocker, which is insanely fun in deep pow. I use my WC101 80% of my ski days. Most pow days were spent on the Bibby, but that's retired now. Kinda want a 108 Wildcat. Wish they made them in-between the 164cm and 174cm, but i understand why they dont. The 169cm GT fits me better than my 174 WC 101 and 174 Bibby (my height is only 157cm/5'2") but I'm pretty confident the 164 would feel squirrely with all the rocker. I've never skied a DW for comparison
jhnegbrtThat makes sense, thanks for the follow up!
I also have a wc 101 and love that ski. I would consider the WC (116) but I feel that would have more overlap than I want with the DW.
Similar to you, whether I get a CB or GT, I expect to go deathwish a lot of days.
I think they changed the GT shape after your year to “handle bar rocker”, but not sure how that would affect hard pack performance

Skied a two ski quiver of a DW and GT for a few years. If you're asking about "hard pack performance" with the Ghost Train, you might be looking at the wrong ski haha. The triple camber version I had was plenty manageable on hardback, but it certainly wasn't "great"
If it's anything short of a guaranteed pow day, I'd go DW, but if it's sure to be deep, Ghost Train is my all time fave. That's why I want a tour version to come back, I skied so many of the deepest backcountry days of my life on the Ghost Train and absolutely loved it.

Question for DW112 owners: do you ever ski/wish you had a narrower ski during the season? I feel like you don't hear a lot about the original Deathwish online (the 104 version + wildcats get a lot of chatter) but seems like lots of people will offhand admit to skiing most of their Tahoe days on the DW112. Is it just quiet because people on the DW aren't out looking for new skis?

The 112 is just a really good do it all ski. It can handle almost any condition which is why a lot of people ski it as their 1 ski quiver. It doesn’t ride as wide as a typical 112 waist ski so it’s more usable across more terrain.
Before the countach I know it was a cult favorite amongst the Moment employees as their throw in the truck skis to be ready for anything, countach is getting a lot of that love now as well.
as you mentioned in Tahoe it was absolutely fantastic I never found myself needing more or less ski and this was in March/April during the crazy dumps. Also had cat 118, 108 and commander 98’s on hand and found myself having the most fun on my wish 112.
I do have the 104 as well which ill
be using this nov-dec in Tahoe and Breck as I don’t expect the conditions to be as great as when I was there in March-April.

bustedpivotIts because it does not feel at all like a 112. It feels like a 102.
Pretty much this. The 112 is really quick edge to edge, much more nimble than the sidecut radius would indicate. It can pivot and slash very quickly and also has pretty good edge hold when it's needed.

The Deathwish works really well in 95% of conditions so it’s a pretty easy grab on virtually any day. And even when the conditions don’t suit the Deathwish, it’s usually not the 112 width that throws me off because DW112 has a massive sweet spot plus the triple camber placebo.
However, the one thing that does throw me off occasionally is the lack of significant taper. In most cases this is a positive trait but when snow gets either super punchy or the moguls have really steep troughs, the DW112 is out of its element (FOR MY SKI STYLE).
I bought the Deathwish when I moved away from the mountains and sold most of my quiver. Sure, there have been days where I wish I still had my Bibby’s or my Tahoe 96’s but overall I am a permanent Deathwish fanboy.
Really appreciate the replies on the DW112. I skied it all last season for everything, so it's good to know that I'm not missing out on much by only owning one resort ski.
So I know this a question that has been beaten to death, but I've never ridden a Moment ski and could use some advice. I'm 6 feet tall and about 170-175lbs. Will ski in the Sierras, Big Bear, and Colorado mostly this year. Trying to decide between the Deathwish 184 and the Jeffrey 108 186. Last year I skied the sir francis bacon 184 all year and it felt short to me so I'm a little worried that the deathwish 184 will feel too short, but am apprehensive about sizing up to the 190. I'm not the hardest charging skier, but I struggled with the lack of stability on the SFB. Is there much of a difference between the DW and the jeffrey when going fast? On the contrary, which is more fun and surfy when taking it slow? I'd like something that's still fun when riding groomers with friends and family.
Or should I be looking at the countach 188 for a playful but fast ski?

I know this doesn't full answer your question. But i ski usually Big bear and the occasional trip to Mammoth I also am coming off a pair of Line Bacons in 184s, and I just ordered 2 days ago a pair of wildcat 101s in 184s. Seems like the wildcat should be a great replacement as a fun ski. im 5,11, 185lbs and didnt think the bacon felt short though.

DW has pretty deep rocker, I'd go 190. I'm like 5'7 and ride the 184.
Was this a hint to the Halloween drop? Email had me thinking ghost train because of the graphics and the 3 (triple camber) but could you be dropping a clue to a merdian tour?
We built a pair or two back in ~2017, my dad has also produced quite a few pairs of fish scale skis.
They work well enough for low angle skinning, but the efficiency loss at moderate to steep slopes or icy conditions + the additional effort that goes into building them properly is what keeps us away from producing them at volume.
PartyBullshiitI see those 3 skis faintly showing behind the girl.
ghost train, Meridian 117 and Meridian tour.
or ghost train, chant and Meridian tour.
Please be an updated Ghost Train available in 168 like the old one. That size is best sized Moment ski I own for my short hobbit ass. I already have 2 (one is unmounted too) but one that's better on groomers between pow would be epic

Unfortunately there will not be any sub 180 lengths in this release
PartyBullshiitI see what you did there. You guys got me with the glutinous waists. Figured forsure that meant 117. lol. 107 is barely cheeky width wise lol
Yeah, we get a lot of questions about the 117.
Basically, we made the Banana, we stopped making the Banana, we made the Meridian as a skinny Banana, we made the Meridian 117 as a wider Meridian, then went back to making the Banana as it's better and more iconic ski compared to the 117.
Love the throwback graphics on the Ghost Train. Definitely jeolous that the GT and Meridian weren't released in shorter lengths for us short guys and gals
hot.pocketYeah, we get a lot of questions about the 117.

That makes a lot of sense. Only reason for the name change being banana instead of Meridian was the graphics?
