Hey NS, Slvsh is a freeski matchup league similar to what Stept's Skate on Snow was. We've filmed 12 games so far. The first game, Noah Morrison vs Noah Wallace, drops tomorrow, October 14th, on http://www.slvsh.com

Anyways vent over, super bummed 3 of the last 4 games have ended short because of injuries, and it sucks that every girl game has ended early. Stoked for these next matchups though, Alec vs Evan, Taylor vs Alais, and Max vs whoever is gonna be sick

Farmville420Just a detail in the matej vs kuura video I noticed: Matej literally says "I was trying to fuck my opponent but it turns out it didn't work out" and they both laugh.

I see a lot of comments talking about the "spirit of slvsh" and I think the spirit is literally just throwing crazy shit at your opponent and making them uncomfortable, "do my trick and I'll do yours" kind of thing. People for some reason have this mentality that you should throw easy sets out of respect, or play within ur opponents bag, and I've just never seen it that way. I see it more like Matej does.

Also spamming the same tricks is lame, but not because it's "not in the spirit of the game", it's just boring as a viewer when you know the outcome every time and the games are short. It's more like it's against the spirit of content, like you should try to win but also SLVSH is entertainment for people, and there's nothing entertaining about spamming tricks that will 100% give your opponent a letter every time. Not against the spirit of the game but just not fun to watch either.


TL;DR fuck with your opponent but with variety, it's more fun to watch.

Agreed Slvsh is def about pushing your opponent out of their comfort zone but by being creative and skiing the way the one calling the set likes to ski. It naturally makes the defender adapt to a different style which is what makes it a challenge. Otherwise it would just be another spin to win comp where every set is an insane tech trick. I also like when guys call tricks they themselves don’t necessarily have on lock because they’re feeding on the energy. That’s what made the ferdi vs Alec game so good to watch is neither was too concerned about giving up the set. To me that’s the “spirit of slvsh.”


IMO every letter should be given on a different set unless it’s a rebate after a set swaps with no letters. That way you can’t spam a trick you know your opponent doesn’t have and it forces variety in each set. That’s how most games naturally work anyway

I think noses under is different than LH because anyone can do noses under with some practice but the fact Noah is like 5’1 playing against regular sized/tall people gave him a huge advantage a

99% sure Joss confirmed last year the winner (and maybe podium?) gets paid in cups. Zero idea as to the amount, probably depends on how much sponsors like Monster contribute.

It's kinda similar to MMA almost. You can watch 2 master jiu jitsu fighters, you'll probably fall asleep though. But watch a fight with someone who's not just a fighter but an entertainer, like butterbean. It's always a good time.

Why would you show up to a competition, and not wear a helmet. I mean whatever I get it if you're just trying to go slow and be steezy but at that point if you're opponent sets a massive 2 on disaster you should probably just not do it.

what an insane game, first 15 minutes was insanely proper just everyone lacing their tricks, I'm sad I didn't really know Alec before Slvsh cup started but this finals matchup should be crazy. way sicker than march madness this year lol.

She'd do very well. Especially if there was a jump. Lots of the tricks people have been calling would be fairly stock tricks for her.

Skier I'd be most keen on watching at a Slvsh cup is Olivia Asselin though. I think she'd easily clean up.

She is better at doing stunts on skis than me. I agree

That’s what happens when the state pays you millions of dollars annually to be an athlete.

I still think she is wack but she has considerably raised the bar for female comp skiing which is good for the sport of comp skiing.
