I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

It takes over and is invasive but they call it smart weed because if you mow it, it comes back so low that the mower can’t get it but it’s still spreading roots and out competing other vegetation. Probably frowned upon to plant lol but it would hold the dirt pretty well


Googled what smart weed is and it’s just a nickname for knotweed/choke weed. Shits nasty do not fucking plant it especially if your jumps are illegal to begin with.

WoFlowzI just said the bike isn't gonna like it and there's a spot for a road gap, not I won't hit a road Gap on that bike. If I'm being honest the bike would prolly be fine, might not like it tho. I'm also prolly not skilled enough for a real road gap, maybe a small one or trail gap

Me and a friend decided we wanted to build a dual slalom track so we went out and found a place and I started designing the course today. I’m so stoked for this and we’re gonna have it drop into some pine woods so it’s gonna have some loose loamy turns.


Based on my rough sketch I got both tracks to be about 1,000 ft long and drop about 100 ft in elevation. Guessing it’ll be about 45 seconds long

Just started working on a trail today. That sounds like a hell of a lot of work with all of the features and having two tracks in a forest


Idk the dirt and terrain there but it sucks getting the dirt and making features with roots everywhere

loam ruts sound fun as hell tho

Ya true, the features probably won’t be huge or anything but the area I was looking at doesn’t have as many rocks and the trees are spaced out quite a bit so it might not be too bad. I built a trail pretty close by to this and it was pretty easy tbh

Started a new trail today. Definitely a lot more work than i was expecting with rocks and tons of roots in the loam but i think with some better tools and a lot of time it should be a rippin loam trail with big ass rock features

For a new chain or deep cleaning it's easier to just remove the chain and soak it in strong degreaser, but the Park Tool chain cleaner works really well to quickly and effectively clean it on the bike. So much easier and neater than using two toothbrushes.

The best thing you can do to keep your chain clean is to not use too much chain lube. All it should really take to clean your chain after the grease that it is shipped in is removed is to wipe it off with a dry rag.

Yes. I use it all the time. Each one usuly lasts me a few years. Keeps the mess down and cleans efficiently. There's also the shop/ professional version (I forget what the official model name is) is much more durable and you can get replacement parts.

The pro version looks baller as fuck. There are about 4 of the plastic ones at the local co-op that are all kinda beat up but work okay and continue to take some abuse. I've had my own cleaner for like 8 years now and all the rollers spin freely and looks as good as new and gets used at least a few times per season on each of the bikes in my garage.

so i hit one of my first sizeable gap jumps today, and i kept going dead sailor in the air and getting all stiff. Lots of sketchy landings. How do i fix this?

for me it really helps to just try and stay loose and give your body something to do in the air instead of it dead sailoring. turn your bars, whip a little, etc

Like a road gap or a double? IDK probably go the tiniest bit slower (without using ur brakes) and pump the shit out of the lip.
