I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Homie. It was $135 and there are 2 external droppers on the marker in 170mm travel. Both made by tranzx with the exact same construction and internals

There are only 2 available in 170mm. Pnw and tranzx. Both made by tranzx with the nylon cable. The string makes a turn that I don’t think a shift cable could make without kinking and stuff.

Finally got around to working on my trail! Built some hip jumps on the walls of a ditch and we’re starting to get down into the steeps. Wish it wasn’t so hot rn for building though

Yeah 30 mins in and you are soaked with sweat. The gnats are terrible too in most places

They dont make an external routed one. If i do drill the hole in my frame the oneup v2 is probably the one i would get though

I know KS Lev, Fox, and PRO make external ones. And Magura makes a wireless one (that's not much more than the Transfer), so no cables needed.

doubleblackjackSo my bike is pretty old and doesn’t have a hole for internal dropper routing. I have an external post now but it is pretty finicky and relies on a nylon string which breaks all the time.

could i drill a hole for an internal dropper? The frame seems super over built and it has a brace right above the spot i want to drill.





I think i would drill it towards the bottom of the seat tube about an inch below the brace


I've drilled out a seattube for dropper routing, but I did it at a bottle cage mount so there was already a hole there. You should be good to go, just make sure you make as clean of a hole as possible and remove all burrs from the edges of the hole so that it doesn't cut or kink the housing, it's gonna be tricky to do there but not impossible with some thoughtful planning, a fresh drillbit, some rotary abrasives, and some file work. Since the frame is already old just go for it, and to be honest it will probably fail at a weld somewhere else on the bike before it fails where you put a hole.

all of mine external ks has held up good for 2 years. just a little tiny bit of play side to side like i think most droppers develop

Also very very important to measure where the actuator will end up with your preferred seat height and post length relative to that pivot in the seat tube. I rolled the dice a little bit on my 210mm OneUp post at the actuator is a little too close to a pivot.

DRILL A PLILOT HOLE 1ST.

Use like the absolute smallest bit you have, then widen it with a larger bit.

Is kashima coating actually just molybdenum coating? And does it rly make a fork feel good enough to be worth almost 300$ more than a top of the line rockshox fork? And to be fugly if the whole suspension and dropper isn’t kashima?

The kashima fox transfer is so fucking ugly idc how good it is and even if I could afford it I would never run that absolute eyesore

Bikes that are miss matched kashima and not are also pretty tough to look at. Even if I could afford it idk if I’d want it. On most bikes it doesn’t look good same with oil slick or gold cassettes or bolts and shit

I was talking more like a kashima dropper and all black suspension or rockshox fork and kashima shock. Would be rly funny tho

I run MRP fork, Kachina X2 shock, and black Fox Transfer dropper and like how it looks? The most important part? It works great. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah having a kashima shock looks fine imo but if you had a transfer dropper in kashima it would look off with the black fork stanchions or vice versa

Kashima is something like titanium nitride. molybdenum is black

I did more research and it actually is just anodized molybdenum disulfide. So basically people are just paying 2-300$ more for what a bolt at the hardware store would have except it’s gold

Ah, I see. I guess it's molybdenum impregnated. Moly b is used in a lot of industry because it's a great lubricant, but I still believe the gold color has to be from something else. Maybe not idk I can't afford kashima coated anything regardless.

Hit the famous Vision Line at Revolution Bike Park in Wales on Wednesday. I’ve ridden Whistler, Silverstar and the old Rampage site and I can easily say this line in Wales is some of the best fun I’ve ever had on a bike! The gaps are built perfectly so the flow is super chill. What a day.

Those are some gnarly gaps and shark fins. 50to01 always makes that stuff look flowy but it pretty cool that it actually is

Hit up the bikepark today and there was literally no lines so it was nonstop laps from open till close. Shit was dope and I get to do it again tomorrow 😄 Also I suck at dirtjumping

No.QuarterHonestly some of the most well built trails I've ridden in a while, I rode down The Chase, which has some insanely good corners, and RADke which is filled with some really great rock features, and every single trail I rode at High Star had better flow than most of the trails at DV. Pretty quick ride for just a single lap or you could do a few climbs easily and try out a few different trails, definitely a hidden gem.

Caught the Crest Trail yesterday and saw a whole three people the entire time. Smoke made it tough to see into the valleys but the ride was super fun and flowy.






DV was cool and a great deal with an Ikon pass. Definitely some old school bike park trails there.

Starting to rain on and off, hoping the trails hold up OK to ride in the coming days. Any recommendations out there for other must-do rides?

There is right in Parleys that started on Saturday. They seem to have it pretty well under control now. Fortunately there wasn’t a day where the smoke made it hard to ride.

For real, if I avoided riding completely when there is smoke I wouldn't have rode at all in the past couple months.
At this point I only avoid it if the AQI is at a hazardous level.
