I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

WoFlowzJust got a polygon vander it’s a 130/130 bike 1700$ and it’s a online bike company. Was kinda sceptical of it but pulled the trigger cause of the components it has for the money. Just road it today and it feels suprisingly good and functions well for 1700$


Can’t figure out how to get my stupid fucking dork disc off on this bike never had a problem before

Yes I just built up the bike for the first ride and got home and was messing with it to get it off and couldn’t hoping I wouldn’t have to take the casette off just cause I’m lazy

I've removed a couple with a needle nose pliers and some twisting and breaking. I know mechanics are cringing reading that and skierman will type out an all caps response but it worked, dork disc is gone. Or you could just leave it on, nobody cares if it's there or not anyway.

Just cut it off no need to pull the cassette

Yeah true with a little finessing it'll come off. I had to do it mid ride on my old bike because it got hit and locked in my spokes, was a pain in the ass to get off using a pocket knife and an allen wrench

Ik and the reflector I couldn’t get it cause on my last bike I just pulled it off. Took some cutting and pulling almost had to take the casette off but here it is no dork disc or reflectors. I’m getting a dropper and probably some gum side wall dhrs also

Same here, the first mountain bike I had I didn't take off the dork disk until it was completely deteriorated by the sun and I was forced to take it off. It got lodged between the spokes and jammed up the freehub body stopping it from coasting. Luckily I had a pliers in my toolkit but it sure was a bummer to fuck with it for 10 minutes in the middle of a fun downhill to get it off.

Loamers are the best especially if you find some rock rolls and shit in the middle of the woods near a trail system and build a loamer. That little secret trail is like the most fun thing to know about and build

I have a buddy who works at shop who sold his bike because he can just take out whatever bike he wants from their inventory anyway lol.

I once rode off trail because some lady was sitting in a patch of huckleberries munchin and I didn't see her until right when I passed and I got spooked. But I tumbled into the patch of huckleberries so it was pretty chill and I munched for a lil bit

Doing the whole enchilada is a cool ass experience, but obviously is snowed in rn. I was only there for a day passing through, so that's the only trail there I've done. You could do the lower sections, but there's probably better trails down low that I don't know about

Yep. You don't have to do the whole enchilada. Kokapelli > UPS > Porcupine is one of my favorite rides and I bet you can ride that right now with how bad a snow year it's been.


With how busy Moab is right now, I'll add Poison Spider as an oft under appreciated trail. It used to be really popular, but now I feel like the other areas overshadow it.

If you want a fun 10 or 17 mile loop Navajo rocks is probably my new favorite ride, hit it when I was down there a couple weeks ago. pretty much shows you all Moab has to offer in one area; Slickrock, sand, techie rocks, bowls. Has a super good flow to it and you dont feel like you're either going up or down with no in between. had a blast

No, I want my entire bike to be oil slick. It looks really good and is a very timeless look. If I service a bearing and find out that the individual balls aren't oil slick I will be upset. I use oil slick condoms, well I don't actually use them because every time I've talked to a woman they usually leave once I start talking about the development of oil slick bike parts, but I have them and I don't think they are expired yet.
