We need a new term for positively rating a thread/picture

Now that this new rating system is in effect for the homepage, and the +1/-1 voting system now does something more than it used to, I think we as a group need to make a decision on what to call a positive or negative vote.

The terms Upvote and Downvote are stupid, come straight from reddit and have no originality. I will refuse to allow them to gain popularity. Instead we need something unique to us, because we are NS, not stupid Reddit

Ideas?

The reason upvote and downvote work great over at reddit is because they're verbs. I like dope&nope but how do you express that you upvoted someone? You doped him? In this way I think Stoke&choke work a little bit better.

The only problem is that bad is too overused as a word. I like knuckled or yardsale if only some one could come up with a positive for both. I'm thinking cleared/knuckled and stomped/yardsale.

My only suggestion is pick something that we can live with for a long time. 'upvote' is easy, becuase it is an up vote. Hard to come off as trying too hard.

'stuck it' and things like the pigeonhole us. My current favorite is stoke/choke because it pays homage to something in the past for skiing. My only worry is the way it would fit into sentences:

"Dude, can you stoke up my new photo? Thanks brah." (seems a little bro-brah to me)

"Dude that news article rules... here's some stoke."

Dont know why we can not just continue to use the karma system.

the Gnar Points idea isn't bad, but its kinda ripping off unofficial squaw in a way sort of and isn't really that original

Ok so this thread ended before any decision was made, so i decided to go through the thread and take all proposed ideas and make a survey. One person just proposed a few ideas for a positive term and a few for a negative so I just paired them in the order they were typed. Just choose your favorite and in one month I will post which one won, along with a screen shot of the results as proof.


Sorry if I missed any. Just let me know and I'll add it.
