CR Johnson has Passed Away

I just got a text message. Apparently CR hit his head on a rock while skiing Headwall (Squaw) this morning and has passed away. I will keep this thread updated with details as I get them.

Honestly, probably the most inspirational skiers of all time in my book. The guy helped one of my buddies through some real tough shit. It was amazing to see a pro actually show some concern for just an average kid who loved skiing, but wasnt too stoked on life. RIP man.

Can't believe I was having a good sloppy pow day at Alpine the whole day and next door this happened. 

Shit makes you realize how little it takes for things to go completely wrong, and how good those who push the sport actually are.

RIP CR.  You're Bio 9  at superpark was the SHIT for a couple years after it went down and you are a legend.  God damnit, why do we loose the best ones young in this sport so often?

WOW, RIP CR, you will be missed so dearly by this community.  after an amazing recovery in 05, you only surprised people with insane skiing, segments, and anything else since then.  even being able to walk after that injury is a feat that not many others would have been able to do.

you were one of my favorite pow skiers, and i'll deeply miss you.  ski in peace cr.

His x games pipe run was still the biggest to this day and he did the sickest bio 12 at the US Open big air when I was growin up. He is definitely a legend. May the Powder be endless in Zion Bredren. RIP SIP.

We will be posting a proper article soon, that gives CR the respect he deserves. Everyone is quite shaken up by the news right now and trying to come to terms with this. Jeff Schmuck, who was a good friend of CR's has decided he would rather take the time to write a proper memorial, rather then simply an announcement of his untimely passing.

Everyone here at NS and across the entire skiing community are completely shocked this happened, but would like to remember how much he touched and inspired so many aspects of all our lives.

To his friends and family we offer our most heartfelt condolences.
