2022 Dissent Labs Ski Gear
Ski socks are an often overlooked part of your ski kit. For years we just bought whatever was on sale when my old ones wore out, being from Vermont Dylan gifted a lot of Darn Tough ski socks, and Erica has always had either Darn Tough or Smartwool. Socks aren’t the most exciting piece of gear you can buy, but a bad fitting sock or one with seams in the wrong spot can ruin a ski day pretty fast. - @erica & @TheWeaz
Manufacturers description: “the thinnest, most comfortable high-performance sock available. Warmth without bulk.”

Ultra thin and precise
Ultimate breathability
Enhanced merino insulation
EZ-ON graduated compression fit
“The IQ fit ultimate is built like a standard non-padded ski sock. The Main difference is when you put it on it is much tighter all around, it's not quite to the point of a full on compression sock (like the GFX) but definitely in between the compression sock and the standard ski socks that I usually wear. I wear this sock on very cold days in my very low volume 94mm last inbounds boots because of how thin it is, it seems to keep my feet warmer than other similar socks. I also find the extra tight fit helps keep the sock in place throughout the day without needing to be adjusted at any point.”
Manufacturers description: “combining the thin-yet-substantial construction of the IQ fit ultimate, with thoughtfully mapped low-profile padding.”
Features:
Thin and breathable
Strategic low-profile padding
Enhanced merino insulation
EZ-ON graduated compression fit
Review:
“The Dissent IQ Fit Hybrid is very similar to the Ultimate, but comes with light padding on the shin which I really enjoy on hard charging days. In comparison to the IQ Fit Ultimate, there is negligible difference in both warmth and fit between the two models. The sock fits snug and like the other Dissent socks we tried, it doesn’t shift on your foot during a long day of skiing. ”
Manufacturers description: “the best of both worlds. The hybrid combines the KEY features of the Dissent Ski Pro Fit Nano and the Dissent Ski Genuflex socks.”
Features:
Polygiene permanent anti-odor treatment
Nanoglide 6th toe start zone protection and buffering
Strategic GFX low-profile padding zones - toes, mid sole, heel, ankle, and shin
True Compression fit
Seamless toe
Reviews:
“This was my first true compression sock and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Blisters aren’t common for me, but earlier this season a long tour and socks without a snug fit left me with blisters on both of my heels. The GFX Compression Hybrid is a tight fit for me (I wear a medium in the other socks, but as I size down in my ski boots I was advised to do so with this sock as well). There is a wool version if you’re worried about smell, but my feet get pretty sweaty on tours and the stink hasn’t been unmanageable. These have become my go-to for touring sock for their light cushioning and the fact that they don’t move even an inch on my foot even throughout an entire day of skinning.”
