mips is supposed to provide a rotational dampener, i.e. the more time it takes for your head to go from motion to rest, the less force it will take in the impact. Presumably by having the goggles under the helmet it provides a frictional force preventing the dampening and with it the impulse increases, which is the rate of change of momentum and the magnitude of the impact is greater.

fuck trench coats, they're for people who come to the alps from Paris for a weekend and don't know how to ski. They are always not wearing a helmet, but still lack the ability to ski, like a TBI waiting to happen
