Solo trip to our camp in the Whites tomorrow night after dinner; waking up to opening day at Cannon Friday and Waterville Valley on Saturday. Can’t wait for another ski season and 2am bathroom trips to the 24 hour Irving down the road.
I officially ate shit in uniform (literally my first pow turn of the season after we opened under the lift line in front of my co worker) so that means beers on me for the crew

Yea but the park has a rope tow now! First mountain in the west to have a rope tow park? (Not counting summer camps). Also you can ski all the powder the run down to the park, no need to not hit the park

This may be the holiday booze speaking but I’m really thankful for everyone on this forum. Trolls and haters included. It’s really hard to find anyone here in Florida that’s genuinely as enthusiastic about skiing as I am. I know most of you live in ski communities and it’s not a big deal but I truly enjoy sharing the love of skiing with everyone here. I’ve learned a lot over he past years here from everyone who’s shared their experiences and knowledge and I’ll forever be grateful. I have a lot to still learn and hope to share my growth with all of you.

real shit, very well said. Even with all the stupid shit that's said on here (not excluding myself) it's super dope how there's still a place where we can all share our honest thoughts about skiing.
went fast today on a run with no one around at the bird, at the bottom the mountain GM who is an asshat who supports the Gondola asked me if those were my tracks, and I said, "yeah probably" (we were standing right next to patrol who clearly saw I was in control and had no issue with me) He says, "You want to slow it down a bit?" without giving any other reason and I think 5 years ago I would have gone full agro on him and turned it into a nice yelling match, and instead today I looked at him, smiled and said, "Just for you" then skied off still pretty fast.
I realize I must be getting older because it's just not worth it to me to get angry with people unless they really deserve it, and the GM of Snowbird will always be an asshat and while he deserves to be called out on it, what's even better is just making him know his word ain't worth shit at the bird while being fake nice to him.

I tell anyone who wants to learn to ski to learn in the springtime.
Snow is soft, falls hurt less, it's warmer, and overall a much much nicer experience
I fear this will be the season I get my ass lit up as a patroller and run calls involving children which I kinda dislike. Thankfully both kids i helped today had minor issues but man oh man I don't wanna be first-on for something horrific. It stresses me the fuck out sometimes.

I really don’t feel bad for them. The signs are everywhere and it’s communicated quite well by every resort, November conditions are not for the faint at heart. Beginners have no business being on hill right now

Both times I’ve picked up my pass on opening day there’s been a party of six or seven tourists in front of me listening to the woman at the ticket window go through the entire spiel on how there are no lessons and no easy way down the rock and ice off the one lift that’s open. They all still buy the tickets and rentals. 🙃

Cannon yesterday was a madhouse because there was only one trail open mid mountain which everyone got funneled into. So you’d see families with toddlers on harnesses pizzaing around tourists taking selfies in the middle of the moguls while people were boosting through; it felt like I was in a Where’s Waldo book.

I can't complain about free skiing but every time I go to pick up a ticket at an iKon resort, it's always at least 20 minutes because people still don't know that you can keep your plastic pass in your wallet like a credit card.
I need a dedicated freeride charger but don’t know a specific ski that would suit me. Moment Countach 110 looks cool but I haven’t heard anything specifically about it. There’s always the Rossi sender free 110 but I’m not sure if it’s too much freestyle influence for a dedicated heavy charger. Deathwish looks great too I should prolly go dw

I'll die on the hill of the ON3P Woodsman 108 being one of the best "do it all" skis ever. It skis hard as a directional charger and gives you a playful jibby feel for boosting features and side hits. Its also a decent work ski.

If you want a freeride charger the Countach is it when it comes to moment. Slightly reward mount point. Stiff core with the poplar/beech. Nice long effective edge. Still fairly playful and tons of float.
the deathwish ain’t a charger. Especially in the 112. It’s a softer build compared to the 104 and the CT 110. Its gets bounced around a lot more than the other two.

Been there four times and love the skiing but havn't been in 8 years. Cousin was on Ski Patrol and would get me free and super discounted tickets but don't have that option any longer.
