DlonettiIt was surprisingly not as bad as expected today. They got a couple inches of lake effect last night and the sun was out most of the day. Conditions should improve throughout the weekend. Projections next week are looking crazy
Maybe I won't be lazy and make the super long 20 minute drive if it actually is okay.
Also, jibba jabba in downtown Houghton. They've got a whole street shutdown for a rail jam type deal. Invite/Snowboarders only tonight but course is open for skiers tommorow.

Should be a fun watch
So bummed Jibba Jabba wasn't around when I was still in Houghton. Setup looks money.

Chilled in the spa tonight, gonna ski a half day tomorrow. Pop out on Saturday next weekend
Skiing with lil groms in the park all day and skiing bumps and other stuff has be officially back to knee brace season cuz my meniscus isn't stoked rn. All good. No joy without pain.
wow all of the kids at mrg are insane. they all have networks ranging across the entire country with kids they compete with and a backie is like the standard trick everyone can do. it's so cool.
How much money do you think it took for Jesper to sign with Dope? I presume he was already getting payed more than any other sponsored athlete. Dope kinda came outa nowhere, they had to have spent a lot of money to get the most mainstream freestyle athlete on their team. His blue jacket looks dumb, i hate it.
Yesterday was a weird one. Went out to Anthony Lakes with a couple of friends. Plan was to tour in the morning then lap the chair in the afternoon. On the first lap of touring one partner popped a knee. First time having to move an injured person out of a Backcountry environment so that was unfortunate but also a really valuable experience. Me and the remaining partner did ski the resort in the afternoon yet. Anthony Lakes might be the best little ski hill out there. Skis way bigger than the advertised 900 vertical feet. Really cool place.
ACL reconstruction was a success; MCL sewn back together. Used some of my quad instead of a cadaver ACL.
Nice. Almost exactly one year after I had my procedure haha. Interesting tidbit: my PT was talking about how in school he had never heard of the quad graft but then moved west and that's pretty much all they do for young, healthy people here. It's probably the best option, as it takes longer for your quad to get back to strength, making it less likely to return to sport too early and reinjure your knee. Good luck on your recovery!
sakanas are very fun ski. i only did 50s in the park with them since their lines. highly recommend though. also if the tail delams is throwing a rivet in it a good choice or nah
I consume ski content wherever I can (insta, NS, youtube) and I get annoyed by how much product placement and influencer bullshit I come across. It's like people are always trying to sell me stuff that I'm never gonna buy. And I'm not talking about brands who are posting about their upcoming drops or something. I'd like to think that I understand the economic reality of our situation but come on. I think people can do better. I say this because there are so many skiers out there who are sponsored or affiliated with a company/brand and are successfully able to get people interested in the products without being corny and promoting the shit out of whatever they're trying to sell. If I see a skier whose skiing I enjoy, and they're wearing gear that I like the look of, I'm going to be interested.
The storm goin through the twin cities got me the rest of the week off. Skied Afton today, and going out tomorrow. Back up to Boho for Saturday Sunday, hoping they get a ton

I reckon they gave him a lot. Based on how many of their jackets I've seen, they sell a lot of them. They can't be spending much on materials or labor to make the jackets. They don't seem to sponsor many actual skiers, just influencers, who probably rep and promote their jackets for very little money or just in exchange for the gear itself. It's a shame that a big name and (I'm not afraid to admit it) a really sick skier to rep their wack brand

I don't blame him for getting money, it's just a shame. I think Jesper deserves better than Dope

yeah sorry my quoting you was unclear, i wasn't arguing anything you said. i agree but idk, some seemingly legit companies arent great at all to be sponsored by so for all i know, jesper is hyped he landed this one
My hot take for skiing of the day is why did ON3P ever discontinue the Woodsman 116s and the 108s? We're talking literally the most perfect quiver ever. Big skis when it's deep and then something a bit slimmer to finagle your way down fall-lines. Amazing skis. No hate, just saying.
Always tried to do this in the past but been doing it a bit more lately. Idk if it’s the ex- ski instructor in me or just feeling bad for people.
muffMan.Also if you pick up others gear you’re a g
If you change the width, you can sell more skis because *marketing*

Profahoben_212I'm so over resort skiing but all my bc partners are out of town. I don't wanna go to squaw during the wc + pow days it's gunna be fucked traffic.
Yup, once I got into touring resort skiing has become less fun. I can find cooler terrain with better snow and have a peacful time walking through a forest bumping tunes and will not encounter a soul.
Also, does anyone have permanently numb toes from ski boots?
Haven't skied loveland since I was a teenager. Loveland or basin pass next year? Loveland wouldn't even be a consideration but they've nerfed the lower lot making it pay/carpool only at the basin on the weekends. Even if I go with a homie can't park at pali without $20 smh.
I’m debating doing both passes next year. My biggest thing for Loveland is the less traffic and never any lines.
