Lmao if you actually turn up to the resort on a pow day
Stevens pass, lmao at actually waking up just to stand in line next to people who aren’t even core. Days like this you might as well stay in bed till lunch, turn up at 1 and hunt stashes / hike sidecountry / tour
winter sports and pow skiing really needs to stop being marketed so heavily as the cool thing to do as well. These big companies selling epic and shit don’t give a fuck about you, they’re just making the sickest places on earth more accessible for noobs just for their monetary gain.

On days where it is too crowded to ski at key or breck I just hit my backyard rail setup, learn new shit, and laugh at the fact Jerry can't side jump my perfectly made lip. Just gotta find a path around the jerry

freestyler540Ive done the ice coast for 23 years. Most memorable years were 2008-2012 where total annual snowfall was between 15cm to 75cm. I couldnt tolerate the January to March seasons, so I moved out west.
Dont worry, first timers are always around to ski your skin track and snowplow areas to base ice in a couple hours... so you dont win anymore.
What are you talking about Killy often goes October - June. Season is plenty long. If you are talking about somewhere other than New England/NY thats not what anyone considers the East coast and is either mid atlantic, midwest, or one of the couple places actually in the south.

I find my path around jerry by not skiing key or breck on any days

eheathWell its because of the Ikon pass/Epic pass/easier access to skiing/snowboarding and people are taking advantage of it and its obvious that people are skiing more than they ever have.
This. Big Cottonwood has been popping off ever since Ikon and Epic. It's gotten to the point that now on pow days and weekends you have to have three people in your car or they turn you around.

i like this photos or lift lines because i always hear people say stuff like "jeez just get a touring setup!". Look at this line. how many people in there would you trust going out beyond gates? this would be terrifying to see at any trailhead ever

There has been a lot of dangerous people in the backcountry worldwide lately. People just not giving a fuck and not knowing a clue about safety out there. Fuck man even in the side country just outside the gate I get sketched out if the weathers been variable.
b0ssYou are the biggest elitist on this site.
People like powder because its the safest comsitions to ski in and they can do whatever they want without getting hurt.
Stop shitting on tourists for wanting to ski good conditions.
I do totally feel that pow skiing is more popular than it was growing up. Baker was turning cars away this weekend by 10:30. A little local hill has a "powder alert" email that half of Vancouver is signed up for and I've never seen the easy-access pow go so fast. Whistler or Revy all the inbounds lines are tracked by lunch (or earlier). Looks like Whitewater is getting there too.
Lord knows if I didn't have my stashes or my skins...
I mean I know all the pow stashes at my home resort in the east, and have waited a max of 5 min on the weekend in the past 2 years. Still sending to CO for 2 weeks to ski weekdays and then touring on the weekend if conditions are right.
Washington has just become so fucking stupid. it is completely overrun with crowds you can’t go anywhere or do anything without waiting in a 5000 person line.

Normally on days like this I cut in front of everyone and say I’m ski patrol off shift.
That’s balls dude
ive plaid stupid a few time and just skied right into a group of girls once but that’s far as I’ve gone , to m never in a mood to be confrontational on the mountain but the rare line at my resort puts me in wtf mode

Some days you just gotta run the jerry slalom and carve around them like gates

Not according to the person who just died at Alta after getting stuck in too much snow.
You’re the person OP is complaining about standing next to in line. You conformist piece of trash.

If you're skiing somewhere less than 3 hours away from a major city then that's just how it is. Washington definitely isn't special in that regard. I'm just waiting on my chance to get a remote working gig so I can move way the fuck away from the i70 corridor. People in Denver loose any form of cognitive function when they get behind the wheel.
Here's a thought: if you don't like skiing at your resort, or you hate Epic, or you hate Ikon, or you hate crowds... DON'T BUY A FUCKING SEASON PASS.
You're that guy at work that does nothing but bitch about his job and how he's treated like shit. By staying, all you're doing is saying that the status quo is A-Okay. Why don't you leave and MAYBE management will see that something needs to change?
Give your business to a smaller hill where there aren't any lines.

I could be wrong, but I feel like park city got less crowded, or at least the overall skill level went down. Last season I could have sworn that on the canyons side I could get pow days after a storm without issue.
CLQOnly skied Abasin once this year but from what i've been told, crowds have died down a lot this year.
Yea I haven't been up there lately but I think getting off the Epic and having very limited days with IKON has shifted it back to somewhat more of a local mountain. I was in full support of that move after seeing this on multiple occasions
Even if there was no line, op would still be complaining that there's too much snow wahhhhhhhhhhh cry me a river you giant pussy. We are gonna need a whole new category for all your complaining threads there's so many.
I've very perplexed if you're a bad troll or just an annoying twat who bitches about everything. Or maybe you did too much acid, acid trip? Or maybe the ski resort denied your falafel proposal? Or maybe you got syphilis from that tramp in the hostel and it progressed to psychosis. Idk. Either way. All you do is complain. Be grateful and enjoy what you have for fuck sakes. Jesus fucking christ on a stick I'd rather hear skierman try to roast me than see another one of these threads.

ha. never seen silver king with a line like that. was that the start of this season when it was the only chair open or this week when the glory chair was closed? Haven't been inbounds at wh2o for a few seasons now but in terms of the topic of this thread, I have definitely noticed an major increase in people at both wh2o and red on pow days the past few years. Makes me glad that I don't really play that game anymore. On Tuesday when it was storming I went up into my backyard on the sled and literally had the whole zone to myself. Sure, I didn't actually do any skiing, but when there was over a foot of blower ontop of the groomed roads and basically bottomless on the sides, I didn't even need to get into the clearcuts and the snow was over the handlebars deep.
If you want pow and you're not a tourist from the city, there's no reason to wait in those kinds of lineups at the resort. Go touring and find the zones that aren't super obvious, or invest in a sled and your options are limitless. Hell, today it is proper storming out there and I just got back from going to a dog walk that consisted of skinning up a logging road by Cottonwood Lake with the dog and skiing the clearcuts back down to the truck. Now I'm just chillin' at the house watching it snow outside and about to do some baking. I'm sure wh2o was a madhouse today and will be even worse tomorrow.
It does feel a lot more stressful, maybe here in UT at least with the horrific congestion and parking issues due to the increased skier visit traffic now. Just getting up to the resorts let alone ski them turns into a competition almost where people are shitty to each other all for the sake of maybe getting 3 good runs in. Everyone wants to ski the good days and thats fine, so do I, but we could also be a bit more chill about it.
idk ive just seen way too many altercations in the last few years, arguments, exchanges of words, and even fights break out over pow skiing and yeah I kind of dont want to be around the resorts when kooks like that are about.
