Super nice quiv...
Owned and skied the Black Ops virtually every day I skied in the 16/17 season. Miss them but like trying different stuff.
The Volkl's on the end are V-Werks and have the new M-5's as well no pic.
Like your idea of the Faction 3.0 with the Shifts...almost went that way with the V-Werks. We'll shift up on something just have not got there yet. **This post was edited on Nov 17th 2018 at 1:36:29pm

Thanks man. I love the Black Ops too. I've had a lot of fun on them last season, which is why I kept them (plus I really wanted 98, 108 and 118 skis, from different brands and with different purposes).
I haven't tried the CT 3.0 with the Shift yet, but it sure should be interesting.
I also have a pair of 16/17 K2 Poachers with Marker Griffon on the side, I'll eventually mount them if we get poor coverage/shitty snow this winter in Europe (but I'd rather have many pow days on the Black Ops instead).
.nasty6 foot. Magnums and 106ti’s are 188cm. Hellbents are 179 (but measure to 183, haven’t been able to find the 189). Sakana is 181.
How do you like the magnums and do you typically ride them just deep days or do you ride them alittle more regularly? Ive got a flat pair right now and am so stoked to ride them but trying to figure out my bindings situation between kingpins and a normal downhill just dont know how often ill be using them in the resort would love to hear from someone who's got some

Just realized you probably haven't used them yet haha

Funny you mention that exact setup because two winters ago I skied magnums with kingpins. I mostly only used them in deep snow touring but right after I mounted them up I took em to ski some tracked out pow and crud. I was impressed, they are damp and definitely stayed planted/quiet when getting bounced around in crud. I hate saying that typical “for a wide ski they are super versatile” cliche you hear these days but they really were. I’ve gone away from the super wide touring ski route these days but it was relatively light enough to justify it for touring

Thats good to hear I've definitely heard good things about them like you said the cliche of being versatile I'm excited to see for myself. What did you have them mounted at?

Needed a new deep day touring setup so I’ll be testing out the shifts on 4.0s next season. Honestly pretty excited for them.

4.0 is a strong setup withe those Shifts for sure it would seem...I am new to Faction stuff and am intrigued by the raging talent they have attracted and and the CT 5.0 I just picked up just looks like a quality stick and check this out

-eREKTion-Are those just different graphics on a prodigy and dictator? Are there actual changes to the ski?
Good question...you probably honestly would know more than I about that cuz this is the first year I even paid attn to the Faction brand, but here is some stuff I I found on the dimensions:
SIDECUT
132/105/121 mm, R21m (@186cm)
SHAPE
15/370 mm tip rocker, 3 mm camber, 15/300 mm tail rocker
CONSTRUCTION
Fusion Light Paulownia/Poplar core // Dual Span Titanal // Full Strength Sidewall construction // Directional Flat tail // Surf Zones // Scratch resistant Brushed topsheet // Die-cut Ptex 3000
Rum_HamIs it just me or do those brakes look super wimpy
The brakes are definitely not the most robust in the industry though that picture does make them look very thin. Weight is a concern and the do tuck in quite a bit when retracted.

They're just Prodigy 3.0's and Dictator 3.0's with different (and pretty cool) topsheets.
At first I read those specs without looking at their site and got excited cause I thought they were putting titanal in the Prodigy 3.0, which would've been sweet.
Just sold some sticks and this is what I'm going with this season
L to R:
178 Head Monster 88 with Pivot 14s for East Coast crap (like Friday)
178 Commander 98 with Pivot 14s for low tide days
184 Deathwish with Jester Pros as daily driver
190 Bibbys with Pivot 14s for AK and deep days.
Atomic Hawk Ultra 130 Boots
LET'S GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DesertStixHow do you like the 13’s compared to the 11’s?
Dunno haven't used email yet. I'm a big guy 6'1, 200lbs and I've had my 11's at about 8 din and they've been fine. I got 13 because I got a prodeal on them. If you're strapped for cash, 11's are still a totally acceptable binding.

Have em both and find myself grabbing the setup with the 11’s more. Has a lower stack height probably because the 13’s are a demo model but they just seem clunky and unnecessary considering I’m not cranking to 13. Wondering what you think once you take em out

I'll certainly let you know! We need some more snow in BC before I test out the Goats.

Just so you know, the 11 has is different heel construction and higher heel height than the 12,13,16 and 18. Some people like myself don’t like the extra ramp delta angle that the 11 has which is aimed to get beginners/females to lean more forward. An Attack 12 or 13 would be even lower height than the 11 and be flatter.
Attack demo bindings have a higher overall stack height than all the regular models but it’s fairly flat though.

For sure the heel is different but as far as stack height goes, my ski is closer to the snow on the arv’s (Attack 11) than on the salomons (Attack 13 demo). I mean look at the toe piece lol

Greg_KAttack demo bindings have a higher overall stack height than all the regular models but it’s fairly flat though.
Like I said, EVERY regular attack binding is lower than ANY demo as they have the extra height of the track. An attack 12-18 Heel is just 3mm higher than the Attack 11 toe height you have as all Attack bindings(non demo) toe heights are the same. So instead of a 2-3mm difference toe-heel like the 12-18, the 11 is double to triple that(6-9mm) which in a short boot size, creates a noticeable extra forward lean. A longer boot like what you have creates less of a ramp angle delta, so it’s less noticeable.
Many people with smaller boots sometimes find they feel “not balanced” and “feeling backseat” on their skis and it’s sometimes caused by too high ramp delta angles of their bindings. Most bindings from every company are “fairly” flat these days because of this issue, although most are higher overall compared to Attacks 12-18.

Carl_the_Llama14/15 K2 Shreditor 102s 184 with og fks race bindings - might cop some poachers to replace those, currently a rock/park setup
17/18 Kartel 108s 186 with fks 140 duals. Favorite ski of all time. Will be replaced with the same ski more than likely.
16/17 Faction Candide 4.0s 188 with Kingpins. Touring setup for the year, hopefully it's good...
18/19 Dalbello Lupo ax 125c. So so stoked to have boots that are comfy and can shred, have had boot nightmares for the past 4 years so fingers crossed.
Bump, copped 184 poachers with pivot 14s. Love em so far
New season new post

My guess is accumulation over time. It's not like folks are buying 5 pairs of skis right off the bat. More like maybe a new pair each year, a sweet deal here and there, and with every new ski purchased, the wear and tear is distributed across multiple skis, extending all their lives.

Buy used, buy cheap, get handy and fix em up. I have a pretty big quiver but all my sticks have like 3 mounts on them and a few coreshots on the base.

I've never bought a new pair lol, thanks to forums and online sites you can usually find a good deal on something that is used. I mount and tune everything myself too, to save the hassle and cost of going to a shop. It's fun to build a cheap setup and enjoy it without having to worry about the skis being brand new.
