DrailSo this is the most recent anti vail thread and while it's not totally relevant to the op I figured I'd just post anyways. My friend just went up to whistler and was dumbfounded by the cost of a single day ticket there and to put it in perspective I showed her how much a day at Vail costs. $175. And as a Canadian - that means $241 CND for a single day at Vail.
I'm not even mad. I'm impressed
Really though, besides parks, vail resorts are generally all mellow terrain and there are way, way better options for terrain. It's all moot though due to the ridiculously low cost of the epic pass. In western Canada you'd be hard pressed to find a seasons pass to a hill worth skiing that's less than $1000. Since this thread is about pc/canyons, there's no reason why you couldn't afford an epic pass AND a pass to any of the cottonwood hills.
It's no secret what Vails plans are and Park City was already a proper resort. I'm with EHeath on this. As a user, I highly doubt anything has drastically changed.
Everyone who is a real skier looks like an idiot when they bitch about vail resorts. Hell, if I was allowed to enter America I'd buy an epic pass because, why the fuck wouldn't you? Its probably about the same as most people's rent for one month. Get over yourselves.
(And yes, I'm festively drunk and should be with my wife and not on NS, but she's on the phone with her mom so here I am, making a fool of myself)

Agreed. As far as the terrain, vail does have some steeper stuff and good general skiing, but some of the park hubs like breck not as much. Beaver creek had some really nice all mountain terrain, and most of the skiers stick to the trails there, so the trees had lots of freshies.I only worked there one season, and was generally too busy in the park to get out to the various terrain as much as I would have liked but I had no problems finding fresh snow and decent lines even weeks after a storm.
That said you probably wouldn't want to go there just to shred park anyway. That seems like the trade off at most places. Obviously there are some places that crush it at both but that's rare.
Profahoben_212Every resort I've ever had a season pass to has. I thought it was pretty normal?
Word, idk then. I don't think I've ever ridden anywhere or really heard of any places doing it so it's not that common. A season pass is kind of like buying a lift ticket. You get discounts for working at the ski areas on food etc, but for a season pass I don't think that's in any way common. I've seen season pass appreciation stuff like people open a certain day for pass holders, maybe letting people go up the lifts early a certain day, or things like that, but nothing in terms of a regular discount on food.
What mountains do you ski that have this? I'm curious the size and region we're talking.
