Hobbies for when you can't ski

There is a decent chance my hill may not be able to open up this winter so what are some ways to pass the time until 2016. I have so much free time right now it's ridiculous. I quit track and basketball to focus on skiing this season and I may not be able ski at all.

You could pick up yoga to increase your flexibility. Start playing the Ukulele because its easy and fun. You could apply for Ski Patrol and get certified to ski for free anywhere or get your EMT license and make some cash. Try getting good at video editing. Maybe learn how to DJ on a mix board. Start a podcast with a friend or two. Get into wood working, its super cheap and you only need like 3 tools to get started. If you have money to blow (5k or more) try getting or making a ski press and make your own skis.

Literally anything. Just pick up a hobby.

No full tilt boot will get my foot in it. My foot is unusually wide with over 104 mm in width. I squeeze into dabello voodoos with a 103 width.

Look into mountain biking. The startup cost of a bike is a little high, but you can find great deals on prime used bikes on pinkbike.com. But I was always in your position in highschool, then I got super into mountain biking and I'm set year-round. In NY right now it's so warm I've been riding my bike every day rather than skiiing, it's pretty pathetic but could be worse.

50-60 is perfect weather if you are walking and playing a quick round with no standing around.

at the risk of sounding like a 9 year old... Fingerboarding is probably my favourite indoor chill hobby of all time. Not tech decks, i mean wooden mini skateboards hand made with metal trucks and bearing wheels. I got really into it when i was about 12 years old and still have a blast doing it now when I'm 18.

It is completely comparable to skating and every trick is hard as fuck, i mean there is no point where you're like "wow I'm too good at this" it is extremely similar to skating that way (just no danger)

A real fingerboard setup can cost anywhere from 40-150 bucks, like a skateboard setup... And the little details are completely noticeable when you use it.

I think the best part about it is that you can make up your own obstacles, do it anywhere, and be constantly messing around and working at something fun and relaxing. Also a great community that surprisingly isn't dominated by 10 year olds.

i'm sure you aren't gonna hop on this idea right away or anything but I wouldn't put it out there if it was anything comparable to what you would know as "tech decking"

Surfing, Metal forging and casting, sailing.
The waves and the wind are the best in the winter and it's easier to go out when it's not cold as fuck. It's fine as long as you wear a drysuit. Also +1 for anyone that said to learn an instrument. I've been playing the upright bass, cello, bass guitar, and the guitar since I was 10ish. Music is a wonderful thing. Also, a forge is pretty easy to build and you can build literally anything out of aluminum if you can make it out of styrofoam.

I ride my bike all summer and ski all winter. Biking is great to keep the legs in shape for skiing as well!

Actually a good number of the people in that video are 18+ including the person who posted it. It could be related to skiing in the sense that the "pros" or people everyone is watching or looking up to are generally 16+ and there is always a good base of younger kids who are hyped about it.

It doesn't bother me, i don't see why it would bother anyone really lol. All the meetups and events are super chill, its the closest community to the ski community that i have found...

Get into weight lifting. Start a bulking phase, smoke a lot of weed, eat as much food as possible, and sleep more than you should. You'll get jacked and be able to dunk on hoes when you play ball again.

Teach yourself how to code. I learned Java this semester and it was awesome. Takes a fuck ton of time, it's super consuming, and you end up with a valuable skill or a fist hole in your computer screen, depending on how it goes

Idk, not hating on fingerboarding but I don't get the point of making edits. even when we were 14 me and a friend used to play around with the bikes and skateboards when it was raining and we could sesh outdoors and got board skating around his rec room on the carpet.

I have nothing against it, it's something to pass the time, and I guess if you're into it, a legitimate hobby but idk.

Maybe it's just not for me.
