Tanner Hall... A freesking legend? A pioneer?
NO, Get recked. This dude is actually an obnoxious bully and asshole.

Sure, he's been successful both on the snow and in the industry.... But this and all of his marijuana injections have gone straight to his head. Tanner Hall is certainly someone who we as a community should not look up to or speak profoundly of.

There are endless examples of Tanner taking things too far and making unlogical claims. He has a lack of brains, empathy and integrity. Roasting ski racing as 'easy' and calling out pro park skiers for their 'rollerblading style' through the park is wrong on so many levels.

Whatever the case... I hope his ankles are rebroken and stay broke forever so that he cannot continue to taint our snow, our community and our image as a sport. Red Bull made the right call in dropping their sponsorship, now its our turn.

It would be far enough to call me a bully for roasting tanner, but someone had to speak up. On a side note, has anyone else noticed that his computer has been stuck on caps-lock for ages?

Fuck off.

Hes the only one of these gymnasts on snow I connect with and identify with and respect as a figure/celebrity. (I obviously respect all the good pros and other known free skiiers as excellent skiiers.) Part of it is because he is funny on social media and hes a man of the people he'll sign in on here and blast people in all caps. I dont recall EVER reading anything funny or entertaining from the rest of the red names. You just posted examples of reasons why I like him. Good thread hope he posts up in it.

kinda got to agree with you OP. Yeah he was, and will forever be a freeskiing pioneer (Like straight up throwing the sickest shit for that time) but to be honest his not giving a fuck attitude is kinda lame now. Some of the shit he says makes him seem like a washed up loser, especially the sochi stuff. Why can't we all just ski how we want to, yes some people like competitions and some don't. who the fuck cares. In the end competitions, are just a platform that give more exposure to the sport we love. That's really the only shit that bothered me about Tanner. But yeah respect to him for shaping freeskiing into what it is today

Haha, he is hilarious on social media and although I may disagree with allot he says I can't hate on the guy for saying whats on his mind. Everyone worried that tanner might not be the best role model should stop taking skiing so serious.

i would love to see some evidence of this compared to how the rest of the other pros have progressed the sport and can actually come out as a nice guy at the end of the day rather than a straight up dick.

Deep down Tanner means well.

I think there were some periods in his life were things might have gotten out of hand with the internet commenting... but I get it. To be one of the founders of the sport and see it go in other directions (for better or worse), has to be hard. Throw some of his more notorious personal struggles and you're bound to get moments of not fit for a "role model" (not that Tanner has ever referred to himself as a role model in the first place).

At the end of the day, skiing wouldn't be what it is today without Tanner. You don't have to love the man, but at least show him the respect he's earned.

gherbs; you are aware of freeskiing's history, so i don't need to go through tanner's career to explain how much he has changed the sport... but, since you are asking about other pros, there are definitely a good few that can be considered "dicks" in this later stage of their careers. fortunately, there are also the ones that are either "cool", or under the social image radar. these are the athletes that people want to make "role models" out of.

skiing is a very narcissistic sport to begin with, think of what the philosophy behind sponsoring, make my shit look cool, so others will buy it... plain and simple. so, unless you have been around these guys on a personal level, then all your opinions are just that... opinions. respect is only earned, whether it is what you like, or don't... unless you are the one doing something in the sport, then you really have nothing to say

i only went after this prick posting because he wished bad things on tanner, and tanner is one of my friends... so, i am defending him and calling out this fucking pussy

He's definitely the most polarizing figure in skiing. Similar to how Kanye West is in the mainstream pop scene.

I love and respect Tanner for the same reasons I do Kanye. They are who they what to be, and aren't letting anyone deter them.

They both have FINE ASS wives.
They both have (seemingly) cool kids.
They both make their livings doing what they love.
They live the lifestyles they dreamt about.
They both have contributed a shit ton to their respective disciplines, a goal of any one who cares about what they do.
They both got casssshhhh.

A role model is someone you inspire to be like.

I mean, Come on, man, tanner spends all day fucking around at Woodward and at his outdoor playground, wait, I mean his house...he's able to give his beautiful wife and kids an incredible life. He's Smoking hella dank. Kicking it with world class skiers. Getting to basically do whatever projects he can come up with in his head, and having support from legitimate sponsors and people to get them done.

You can't honesty tell me that's not the fucking goal, man? He is in every sense of the word a role model.

He says what he feels and doesn't care what others think. You know how many people are to chicken shit to do that? People could use a role model like that.

Just because he's not afraid to step on any toes and is confident in himself doesn't mean he's not a role model or a cool motherfucker - in fact, it means that he IS one.

I don't even know how you could say something like this about Tanner. What did you expect the whole community to support you? This community may not have even been half of what it is without him. Loosing his best freind, and his business partner to the sport he loves. Two carreer ending industries, and he is still innovating our sport 14 years after winning his first x games gold. Working tirelessly to shape one of the most iconic free skiing company's in the world. He has struggled with addiction, something that may not be prevelent to a sheltered human such as your self. Something sixty million American struggle with. Tanner is the man. He has independently shaped our sport we all know and love. Free skiing is for the mother fucked that calls wrong when he sees wrong. All you liberal ass kids need to bow your head and acknowledge the king.
