Yesterday we lost one of best up and comer skiers around. Sam was truly talented and was an amazing person. He always had a smile on his face and was great friend to many. S.I.P. Sam

this definitley hit me hard. after following his story through ns since his crash this is a hard one, he was so young. vibes to his family, his friends but also the family/friends of all others who have lost their lives doing what they love

I never met Sam, but from what I've heard from the dozens of posts on instagram every person said he was the nicest, most out going kid. They said they never heard a negative thing come out of his mouth. Ski in peace buddy. #livelikesam

I didn't know him at all, had never heard of him before the initial thread. That said I followed the story through the email updates from go fund me, and the threads on here.

Last night I checked my email and saw another update. I clicked on it hoping to find some good news about his progress. Began to tear up almost immediately while reading it.

It's one of those things. The sport we love is dangerous in a sense, but it's not something that's easy to accept when things like this happen. We're all connected by our passion for the parks, and the mountains in general. When somebody from the community passes, especially at that age, it's rough.

None of us know when out time here will end. The only thing we can do is, get out there and really live. From the sounds of things that's what he was doing. Traveling the world, riding the endless winter, shredding with friends, lapping the park under a bluebird sky.

Well here's to hoping it's a bluebird day forever where you're shredding now.

I never had the pleasure to meet Sam, my thoughts are with his friends and family. I'm sure they have a tough road ahead of them but the great thing about this community is that nobody is left alone. Every time someone passes or is badly injured in our skiing family, there's outrageous support for that person and their family. I think it's a very beautiful thing that we all share a respect and appreciation for each other, and it's difficult to lose a piece of the whole. Seeing that support though, seeing people care for someone they've never met, that's special. With each passing of a member of our community, we reflect upon how amazing their life was and how much they shared with their peers. Each one of you members of the ski community are special, no matter how insignificant of a part of this family you think you are. So keep that passion in your heart and make sure that you let your friends know how vital they are to you, because it's important that you tell them their limitless worth before you lose that opportunity.

I have known Sam for 4 years now. He had so much energy and I honestly don't know a single person that doesn't like him. This is really tough to bear right now. He was an incredible skier and an even better guy. The world will miss you Sam.

Always hits me so hard when we lose someone in such a loving and close community such as our own. Sam, I'm so sorry that we had to say goodbye to you before your time; it's nothing but tragic. I will miss you bro. Be at peace.

Someone PMed me. He saod that he overshot a jump, landed on his side and went into a coma. He passed away the following day. So sad :(

So sad to see someone go at so young with such talent. Only skied with Sam once or twice so never got to know him amazing but he seemed like a fantastic kid and out standing skier. SIP bro.

This is almost right he did overshoot a jump, I heard it wasnt in the park though it was up higher on a natural feature. he went into a coma immediately but its been a few weeks since the accident. This whole thing has been on my mind since I got the call 2 nights ago.


SIP Sammy not seeing you when I go out to pc this season is gonna be rough.

It was really sad when jp and shane and crj and heff and all those other legends in skiing died, but this hits me harder for some reason. i never knew Sam, but i would occasionally see him up at pc. I never said anything to him but he looked like the type of kid that would have made your best days on the mountain better. he just had this thing about him where he was always so stoked and it got everyone around him stoked too. you'll be missed sam.

No there haven't been any comps to do since the NZ freeski open I'm pretty sure which was before the accident. My info is from my friend who was one of Sam's best friends. He was in a coma for a little over 3 weeks I believe.
