R.I.P. Sam Jackenthal

Yesterday we lost one of best up and comer skiers around. Sam was truly talented and was an amazing person. He always had a smile on his face and was great friend to many. S.I.P. Sam

Never knew other than the time at park city when I competed against him in Big Air. He was killing it with some super sick sw dubs and he actually went on to win it. I saw him in the chalet after the runs and he came up and complemented me on my run and seemed extremely nice. I love people who do this in the intensity of competition because it really shows how nice they are and how they are in the sport for the love and fun of skiing. I wish I got to know him more. Super sad to hear he passed. SIP

I didn't know him very well but i talked to him at camp and he was so nice and happy S.I.P

SIP Sam. He sounded like a good kid with a bright future.

Just so everyone knows, the care he would have received here in Canberra would have been top-notch, I've ended up in the hospitals here (mostly sports injuries) and the quality of care is fantastic.

That being said, I encourage everyone to donate to the gofundme page, as Sam was a US national, he didn't have any rights of use to the Australian Healthcare System, so the family will be most likely looking at a very hefty bill.

I just received some information saying that the way he landed, his spinal cord snapped. He was in a coma since September 8th, ending on October 2nd, which is just a little over a month.

Theres something about losing someone in the skiing community whether youve met the person or not its always tough, shred in peace Sam your positive legacy will forever live on.
