i'm not sure if you read his post or not but his complaint was they didn't limit their destruction to target police/law enforcement but dragged the average joe into it with damage to businesses and property.
the cvs, senior center, and multiple other buildings burned/looted were not law enforcement or government. the 144 cars that were destroyed were not all police vehicles. so not "EXACTLY what's happening" as you described...
and for the Canadians out there... I know you don't want to be left out to dry ;)
Yeah but thats along with looting and burning normal citizens cars, businesses and homes. if they only focused on the police thats one thing. but when you get violent towards the average citizen that gives reason for everyone to hate you. these pieces of shit become the enemy at that point, and make the bad cops they're supposedly protesting against look like the good guys.
DingoSeanYou know what? Fuck it... I'm glad there's violence going on and I hope to see more. Perhaps it will scare the white fuckers in power to actually do something for once rather than just continue to sit on their hands.
I'm going to welcome the more militant Malcom X approach here. It's 2015. It's been 50 years since desegregation and shit's still fucked up. Time to try something new.
People always freak out about looting. Fuck that. I don't exactly care if a Foot Locker gets raided... Make the insurance companies sweat for once.
you know what? fuck it... im glad the police occasionaly kill a criminal and i hope to see more.
Also, this might seem crazy to suggest, but does anyone think its a coincidence that these protests happen to occur in some of the most crime ridden shit holes in the country? could it also be a coincidence that there is a perceived police brutality/racism issue in these same areas? could the police issues stem from the huge crime problem?
These riots and protests are unbelievable. Regardless of your stance, you don't riot/destroy/commit arson against the innocent in the name of justice, or in the name of the victim. (I use the term victim loosely because I have different viewpoints on who was in the wrong in these types of situations).
g-daddyI know it may not always be as simple, but obey the law. It can't be that hard. Obey the law and you won't get hurt. Don't run, don't be sarcastic and stupid. How hard is it really?
(The stats may be way out way because of who is citing them)
Hey, I'll start when the cops start. This 'obey' shit is a two way street. When the cops violated Freddie Gray's 4th amendment right to be left alone after he "made eye contact" with a Baltimore cop, then this all went to hell. All the cop needs to do is leave people alone unless they are committing a crime. I don't see a crime being committed unless the cops can find a rule, regulation, statute, ordinance, or law that says looking at them is a felony. So, take your obey stuff and apply it to the cops first. Maybe then I'll start to respect the badge again. Maybe.
Maybe you think it's ok for a cop to roust you when you are out in public? go through your pockets(Terry stop), your car, your house cause you looked at them. Good luck with that, you should try out N Korea, it's right up your alley.

Cops need to be reminded of their position in society, they are here to to investigate and arrest. They are not judge jury and executioner. This isn't the wild west, it's the 21st century and people have rights.

Then maybe these fucking dumb asses should quit trying to plead their case, argue, fight, and resist with the cops and take it up with a judge like a normal civilized human being.

or we could just lynch em for fun. If all you whitties got to enjoy that, I want in.

No sir. You have it exactly backwards. Even a dumb ass has a right to be left alone. It is not up to the citizen to prove they were doing nothing wrong, it is up to the judicial system to prove they did do something wrong. It's called presumption of innocence, and it's a well established legal concept. This is to protect dumb asses of the country from being harassed, and arrested for just being -- well, a dumb ass, which isn't against the law. The LEO is the field force of the judicial system. They are required to have a probable cause, articulable to a 'reasonable man' standard. So, in this case the cops got looked at by someone. Then, he left, and they pursued, he ran and they caught him. Can you articulate a reasonable cause for him to be rousted? Put yourself in Jimmy Gray's shoes for a second. Even if the cops had previous run-ins with this person, and he has a long rap sheet, they still are not allowed to search without probable cause.
Once caught, the cops murdered him while in custody. So, we have an unlawful search and seizure, followed by restrained in custody in a cop vehicle, followed by his neck being almost severed. All this long before getting in front of a judge. I guess you want the safety of fascism. Everyone must prostrate themselves to LEO and ask permission to be out in public. For some reason, I suspect you might have a problem with that when they are in your face.
I'll paypal you 100 beans right meow if you could pick out on that rap sheet (which may or not be true) of why he would deserve capital punishment. Not to mention I bet you do drugs and have bought/sold them in one way or another and believe you do not deserve to be murdered.

tl;dr rap sheet is irrelevant
smoking weed every now and then is not the same as selling hard drugs tho
.frenchysmoking weed every now and then is not the same as selling hard drugs tho
One instance of cocaine and the rest were probably weed. If it just says narcotics and he's been arrested that many times, he probably wasn't selling heroin. Not a single violent crime and you think he deserves to be killed.

Look at the dates, the cocaine arrest was the most recent and I'm willing to bet that he didn't sell coke just once.
Not saying I would trust that rap sheet. It looks like something that would be posted to twitter or tumblr.
i think this is a testament to the failure of our court and prison system. prisons should be about rehabilitation, not punishment. i don't think anyone deals drugs because it is "fun" or "rebellious." if this dude has been caught 22 times it's easy to see he's in constant financial trouble, resorts to dealing drugs, and the system isn't doing anything to help him out of it. he was born to a drug addict mother, lived in a building where he was compensated with checks for lead poisoning from the building, and probably has no idea how to be a productive member of society. nobody wants to stay in the hood and deal drugs at the risk of their life and freedom, people are forced to. context in these situations is rarely given or complete.
i encourage everyone to do as much research as possible, on both sides, before making a statement about anything. look into the baltimore riots from 1968. look at the thousands of peaceful protesters, the hundreds of other cases of police brutality in baltimore each year, and tell me that wasn't a volcano waiting to erupt. gray's lawyer said it himself:
"Most of us are not here because we knew Freddie Gray," Gray family attorney Billy Murphy said at the young man’s funeral. "Most of us are here because we knew a lot of Freddie Grays. Too many."
broto"Most of us are not here because we knew Freddie Gray," Gray family attorney Billy Murphy said at the young man’s funeral. "Most of us are here because we knew a lot of Freddie Grays. Too many."
I'm just here because i want to see white society fall and white people suffer as it happens. Preferably with nooses.

or could the huge crime problem stem from decades if not centuries of oppression, economic and social immobility, as well as a predominately white police force? How do you think the "shit holes" became the places they are?
slugworthor could the huge crime problem stem from decades if not centuries of oppression, economic and social immobility, as well as a predominately white police force? How do you think the "shit holes" became the places they are?
except Baltimore is not a predominantly white police force. At least half of the force are "minorities".
Not to mention the entire power structure of the city....
Police Commissioner - Black
Police Chief - Black
Mayor - Black
9/15 of the City Council - Black.
I'm curious. Do you ever post racist comments to your facebook profile? Or do you just hide behind anonymity because you're scared someone is going to bash you?
UglyboyI'm curious. Do you ever post racist comments to your facebook profile? Or do you just hide behind anonymity because you're scared someone is going to bash you?
that comment in particular isnt really racist. id (i bet frenchy would too) say the exact same thing if it was a white guy with that long of a rap sheet
Who cares what the ratio of peaceful to violent protests is, doesn't change the fact that property is being destroyed and people are being hurt and guess who's tax dollars are gonna go towards fixing some of that shit and paying for the medical care of some of those people.
Black people are a general population compared to other races do the worst by far. Worst education levels, income levels, employment levels, etc the list goes on.
They like to blame everyone besides their own communities. Im so sick of hearing about there bullshit arguments on the news and how the justify rioting, acting like thugs, etc.
Freddy Gray had 20 serious arrests. He was a drug dealer and user. He was arrested mostly for narcotics arrests. He ISNT a good person as his community puts him out to be. He was a thug who somehow got killed (still not sure how the facts arent released)..that being said, It gives those disgusting savages NO RIGHT to burn down and destroy their own town. If anything, it forces business owners out and doesn't bring in new ones.
As a math nerd, lets look at the numbers to really get an understanding of how cops are just a bunch of racist killers. I was having trouble finding data on just Baltimore, so I found it for all of the US from 2003-2009, but it should give us a good enough idea. Obviously this data isn't perfect (US vs Baltimore, how well this info is being reported), but by and large it will give us a solid picture.
From 03-09 the FBI estimates that there were 98,000,000 arrests made in the US
During this time period there were 4,813 arrest-related deaths (not perfect, but gives us an idea)

4,750 of which were probably completely justified.
