Parents vs skiing

I'm getting real sick and tired of my parents holding me back from skiing. This season I've spent 35 days on the mountain (quite a lot for a kid like me from the city) and it's the final weekend, travelling circus are in town and the spring skiing vibes are absolutely sweet on
my home mountain. But as I was organising my weekend my parents just come in and say ''enough is enough. You're not skiing this weekend''. Now this I cannot comprehend, after spending my holidays and every weekend on the mountain my parents just out of the blue say
That. I'm sure
Most can relate that all they want to do is
Ski. This season has been my best by far, I learnt inverts and my rails have been going so well and it just pisses me off how they hold me back from skiing because they think ''enoughs enough''. How did you guys tackle this situation when you were younger? I'd love to see some parents piont of view on this aswell it there are any out there.

who's life are you living? your parents? and how old are you? if you're older than 16, tell them to suck a hairy nut and go skiing. life's too short to spend it pushing pencils to make other people happy.

It's most likely their money you're spending, so if that's the case then they have every right to tell you to stop. If you're paying for it yourself, fuck them, get on a bus or organise a car pool and go skiing.

If this is the case then get a job to fund your skiing. If you are paying for something that you absolutely love then they will respect you more and I don't think that they should have the right to tell you to stop.

There were def times when I was like 15 that I would get up at 5 on weekends, sneak out tha crib and wait at a park till I could get picked up by an older homie at 8 or 9. Parents would get beyond pissed but eventually they came around and have been mad stoked on skiing for the last 4 or 5 years. Just keep plugging away and eventually they will chill owt

Fortunately, my parents were fully supportive of my move to SLC to pursue skiing! I love my parents. Hell yeah for parents!

OP sounds like a whiny little bitch. Unless your really young...than deal with it yourself or move out. If your above 18 go buy a car if you can. Otherwise....shut up. 35 days on snow is a pretty solid amount of skiing. The fact your parents take you 35 days a year is nice of them. If I was a parent and I wasnt going skiing...guess what? My kids aren't either.

I organised every weekend to stay with a friend or at a lodge. It didn't cost them a cent

The best way to get around this is by getting a job at a mountain and working minimum shifts but telling your parents otherwise. I work in the local mountains shop and just take a Saturday morning shift, giving me a free pass, pro deals, a surprisingly decent paycheck and food discounts. My parents think I work 5 days a week and praise my outstanding work ethic.

Solution make one of your parents get a part time job at the hill. Then they have no choice but to go there. That is what i did my moms gas is much cheaper than mine.

How old are you?

Are you relying on your parents for transportation.

Are you a pain in the ass/or did you do something bad, fail at school, kill your cat etc.

If you have your own transportation to the mountain and you're over 18 just say fuck em and go. Even if you aren't if they aren't saying this because you've been an asshole than find a ride and go anyway.

There's probably more to this story but if there isn't "fuck you mom, fuck you dad, I'm going skiing bitches"

I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me. Every year they try and put a number on how many days I can ski, what days of the week I can use those ski days etc. being a high school student grades were their main focus for me. The way I got around that was getting As and Bs...but then they found other excuses for me not to ski, keep in mind I'm 15 min away from the hill and I pay for my gas and car...but they said they didn't want me wasting my money on skiing and they wanted me to be happy with out it now because it wouldn't last forever! Like wtf...I ski now because I love it and it makes me happy and I know it won't last forever....basically just get the point across that skiing gives you true happiness that nothing else really does and I'm sure they will eventually understand or give up as my parents have. Take away their reasons to hold you back from skiing! Hope this helped.

No offense but on this issue your parents are being fucking morons. If you're paying for your own shit, driving yourself there fuck em.

That's just dumb. Just because they decided to be grown up and never do anything fun/hate life doesn't mean that you have to. KEep skiing don't let anyone limit your time on the slopes.

The shitty thing with making it a thing based on grades if your grades were shit, is that sometimes that's when you need to ski the most. If I didn't get out on the hill all the time when I was younger I would have gone fucking nuts. That was my outlet.

Glad to hear they gave up though.

yeah thing is, I live 3 and a half hours away from the closest hill. But majority of people whom I ski with are the same.

True. Do you have a car or rely on your parents? If you go with your parents can you carpool with friends? Maybe switch off days. Like your parantes drive you on sunday but your mates parents drive you on saturday or whatever.

When I used to drive to mount snow all the time it was 3.5 hours and I'd pic up a kid in troy a little over halfway. His parents were just stoked not to have to drive him and that he could get there and it wasn't out of my way.

Hit up some people and see what you can pull off. IF your parents are driving you maybe they just want a break once in a while. I mean it'd be epic if they just drove you there all the time no matter what but it's understandable if they want to chill for a weekend.

Thanks dude, Season is finishing anyway so I guess I'll take the advice of getting a job and carpooling.

Honestly man, this happens to me way to often, my parents ski and stuff but sometimes they think its a sport sent from the depths of hell and they don't want me skiing at all. Lots of times it has to do with grades, gas, and or money. If you have all of those covered then I am pretty sure that you will be good. Also doing your own thing and pissing off the parents in many ways can do you way more harm then trying to convince them that skiing is the only thing that you do besides work and school and shit so try and convince um man.
