TRVP_LVRDAccording to the thread poll 57% of NSers who took my survey are unsatisfied with the new rules. If every active forum user on the site took the survey what do you think the results would be?
Let me tell you a bit about Newschoolers. First of all, there is a lot more to this site than what just lays in NSG. If you are unfamiliar with it, here are some links:

These are just some of the many, many places that many other members of this site go to! And you want to know something crazy? A bunch of those users don't even step foot in here. That's right, this site has quite a big user-base outside of the active forum posters, and especially those involved in NSG. Aside from not even knowing NSG exists, one of the most common excuses why people don't post in the forums is "NSG full of hate and 12 year olds."
While that statistic is not true and the average demographic of NS Members is much older than 12, there has been a rise in the number of complaints about the negative comments starting to spread into these other forums. I'm not sure how many of the problematic members of NSG actually ever leave NSG and go to other parts of the site, but they've influenced a few people that it's OK to make fun of some kids mom in a video, in a news article, or in ski gabber.
NSG is not the center of Newschoolers. It is merely a sliver of the pie. Some heavy forum users sometimes believe it to be true, and take their e-toughness elsewhere on the site, and that's where the problems have started to pop up. The easiest way for us to handle this is trace it back to the source, figure out what is degrading the comment maturity, and do what we can to encourage change. Overall, this is not just a moderation effort but a community one as well. If we can get people on board to contribute thoughtful and engaging comments and feedback, along with not tolerating some of the stale, unoriginal, and frankly immature humor, then a lot of our problems will be solved.
