HypeBeastYep but it won't last forever....maybe a year, maybe two... If it does you can expect everyone else to get a pay bump which I highly doubt will happen across the country. Doubling or tripling salaries isn't sustainable.
How did you end up in a union? You obviously have to sign something. Did your hospital only hire union employees or something?
And why don't you sign up for a travel gig? You're new so it's not like you're gonna lose seniority if you leave to take a travel job. I'd milk this bitch for all it's worth. Like seriously you could make 3 years worth salary in a year. Do it and pay your loans off.
Listen I don’t even want that salary. I just don’t want to walk in and have 8-9 patients everyday. I’d rather not get any pay raise but have a guaranteed ratio of under 7, ideally 5-6. Fuck I would take that 1% raise they offered if it meant they could hire more people so that shit was actually safe.
Edit: I had no option when it came to being in the union. Everyone in the hospital is in the union. I got the choice of being a member or agency but it was the same dues and obligations for both so I don’t really know the difference. I can’t have my position unless I’m in the union on some way.
Im also not experienced enough to feel safe taking one of those jobs. I don’t have the skills to do that yet lol
