I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

BiffbarfWhat rim will last more than a season under my fatass?

I ride with a bunch of super tall+big guys and we've put a lot of wheels through the absolute wringer.
Definitely avoid anything 28 spoke. Warranty policy is very important for us bigger guys.

me:
Stans Flow D - Became noodles after a season. Spoke tensioning doesn't hold. Avoid. Never buying riveted rims again.
Stans MK3 - Wobbly beyond repair but still rideable after a season. Cheap, decent. Recommend MK4 for a tight budget.
Formula (anything) - Failed at the weld. Avoid at all costs.

friends:
E13 cheap rims - Complete butter. Avoid.
E13 midrange rims - Better but still wouldn't recommend

I9 Enduro 305 28spoke - Didn't last very long. Would avoid for bigger riders.
I9 Enduro 305 32spoke - Durable, high quality. Expensive but built well.

DTSwiss EX511 - Holding up well. Will probably be my next rims if I don't go carbon.

Dt Swiss ex1700 are the most reliable aluminum wheels I've used (I believe same rim as ex511 but built as complete set). They didn't lose much tension or dent after brutalizing them at enduro races and bike parks for 5 months. If you can afford it though, I think carbon 32h rims are the way to go. The economics line up after paying to replace around two aluminum rims + labor. A lot of brands have lifetime warranties on their carbon rims now too, this year I splurged and went for Nobl TR37s which have been awesome so far - stiff, relatively lightweight and have stayed true bashing them in the Rockies this summer.

Just wait til you find some of the rake and ride lines at Highland. Great flow trails, but definitely not lacking in the more natural stuff.

Near harrisburg. I was hoping to get $1600 out of it. It's a 2021 liv embolden 1, has not more than 150 miles on it I'd guess.

Sram brakes drive me nuts. I'd rather bleed my Saints and Zee's a little more often than deal with the myriad of issues and weird feel I've run into on multiple sets of SRAMs.

Rode the park city point to point yesterday and finished! 11hr 35min 🥵. 90degree heat and trails as blown out and dusty as i’ve ever seen in PC made it a fuckin grind. Really cool to push the body and brain past the limit like that though, highly recommend the race to anyone who likes big days on the bikeIf

Woodies doesn’t really feel like mtn biking imo more like a dirt skatepark, barely a rock or root on the hill, not my cup of tea but they’ve done a nice job with the limited terrain they have.

Right on. Totally get that. My boss was explaining in his own opinion that they need to bring in maybe a crew of diggers that know how to build DH/Freeride specific trails but theyve done decently with the crew so far. Ive had some fun laps but I do get what you mean. It seems like a fun place for BMX/Dirt jumps though. I really want to buy a setup again haha.

I haven't been there myself, but I know it's a favorite riding destination for the Teton Valley groms. According to them they just want to ride good jumps, and Woodward has good jumps haha.

Thats cool to hear. They've actually re-built and re-designed them over the last few seasons since their opening but they've had some cool people come in apparently to give them ideas. The DJ/BMX section is insane. I see how the groms love it. Its got good levels of progression and yeah, the big boi jumps do look rad. I can't wait for the whip-off and dual slalom event in Oct.

The course at work looks so gnarly, dude. And the Whip-Off/Best trick features. Nice builds. I hope we catch a break of nice weather after this rain because things were absolutely ripping after work today. Took a lap myself and shit was sooo nice and grippy.

Woodies has fun ass jumps but just needs more variety. They should build actual tech trails and just more trails in general. Also do y'all actually scan passes cuz I swear it looks like y'all just wave the scanner at me and tell me im good

Yeah I actually built that trail and named it after my NS handle. The trestle trail crew was pretty shocked when it popped up overnight but corporate seems to be okay with it. Glad they fixed the signage, at first I had just scratched "No Quarter" into one of those first few trees with my fingernails. I've got a few marmots trained to provide bacon strip tubeless plugs chained up at a few points down the trail if ya ever get a flat.

I got 2 flats yesterday on my slope bike because i ran my tires with waaaaay too much PSI. First time, popped the back. Probably shoulda know to adjust the PSI prior. Second time, popped the front. I didnt adjust it after the back popped so that was on me lol. Whata fuckin gaper. Zero marmots came to my rescue as I was not on No Quarter.

As long as you have your wristband, you'll be fine. Just don't poach us from Arcylon side or I will be mad and have to power-flex.

More tech trails and actual single-track could benefit them but its not like we don't have Basin Rec trails and hundreds of miles of single-track thats free in the area. I think their approach to bike parks is fine imo but im still new to this. Utah has plenty of trail systems, we need more jumps and berms.
