I know there are more brown pow lovers on this site, yah there is pinkbike but lets be honest, newshcoolers is wayyyy cooler. so lets posts our rides, questions about components, mechanic questions etc in this thread.

I just bought this beauty and i definitely sacrificed uphill capabiltiy in order to get a beefier dh/park bike. id been on a nomad for a while and it's a huge switch in riding styles for me. definitely getting used to the weight and having to keep speed a lot more.

specs for said beauty, 2011 rc2 dh totem, 2012 dhx rc4, highrollers front and back (gona go dhf front and highroller in the back), mtx 33 wheel set, slx brakes, diablous cranks, FSA 760mm Handlebar, Shimano SLX Shifter & Shimano Deore XT Derailleur.

Poindexter.V2Price seems on point. If I had been wanting a 27.5 I'd have probably been pretty keen on it.

Lot of us taller folks are just looking for the 29


@all 3 of you totally agree if it like a sentinel or smuggler with 29 I’d have no trouble selling. I’m 6’3” and was on the 27.5 or die ship until i got my new ripley AF, still has the poppy and snappy small wheel feel but climbs and rides tech soo much better.

thing is the 2017 scout in XL is essentially a L by modern numbers, reach and wheelbase are both shorter than the 2021 size L. Almost want to list it as a L for that reason

It'll be 100% worth to list reach/stack. Bikes today are so huge. Also if you can find and fix the creak, I'lI bet that's a red flag for a lot of people. Should sell at your price, i wouldn't budge unless you were super strapped for cash. seems like a great bike.

I know the creaking is definitely coming from one of the linkage bolts, since i’ve replaced BB, cranks, seatpost all the usual suspects. I just dont have a torque wrench to put the bolts back together if I took it out to clean and grease

Not strapped for cash was just hoping to sell it before I gotta pay my new bike on next months CC bill haha

CLQGot my fork rebuilt 2 months ago and now it sits at 10% sah without any weight on it. I let the air all the way out and did like 10 compressions. It didn’t fix the problem so I then pumped my fork to ~140 psi, still no good. Some random bike shop said I should get it rebuilt. Do I really need to drop $160 again?


What fork and what air spring?

what do the price police say on this? I've had it listed for like 2 weeks on PB and locally with no interest yet. 27.5 definitely doesnt help my cause but with so many new components I thought the price was fair, fork alone is worth half of that and it's like brand new

Lyriks and pikes older air springs are known for doing that. I don’t have either but when I was looking into what would be a better option for me when I upgrade. I found multiple articles and videos on that. The new Debon air spring is supposed to fix that problem

Look i think i hate @skierman as much as the next guy if not more. (Fuck you skierman say something nice at least once a day) But were on a fuckin ski website lol. Once a basin or keystone opens for the winter, i dont even look at my bike until late spring.

Finally got enough moisture to start packing some corners and do some benching. Slapped this catch berm after the steep, and dialed in the following bench cut after it. Hoping you can gap from the corner and land into the bench. Last photo kinda shows the gap. its not very big but would be pretty cool.

GANDALFFinally got enough moisture


I'm jealous. I was digging with the trail crew this weekend hand finishing some machine work on a freshly built landing, desperately trying to pack moon dust that seemed like it had 0% moisture. It could not be tamped and I broke a tamper and tried to finish it with a McLeod. We gave up, and just decided to close the trail and let the soon arriving snow do the rest of the work.

I think this one is awfully dependent on where you live haha. I wish a rake did anything for me here, but it takes a rogue hoe at minimum to put in tread in most of the Tetons.

Oh for sure, I love my rogue hoe (I've got the Travis tool), but for making quick tune-ups and spring cleaning of existing trails I spend a lot of time using a rake and appreciate how well it can be used for shaping assuming I've broken up the tread enough. I'll admit I've gotten a little overzealous with a rakes ability to break up packed material and broken a couple. I think if I were cutting new trail I'd bring a Travis or McLeod and a Mattock, for spring tuneups of heavily trafficked flow trails if I only bring the Travis I'm usually wishing I had a rake because I'm really not a fan of the fat and widely spaced tines on the Rogue Hoes.
I snagged an old rusty Mattock for a dollar at a garage sale and I need to install a new handle and spend some time with a flapwheel and files on it.

i just picked up a trailboss kit and it has a rogue hoe 60A as one of the heads that came with it. Stoked to try it out.

Really, really wish I could justify one of those. I've used a few over the years and am continually impressed at how well the Trailboss handles hold together.

Someone from SWMMBA has the Trailboss kit and it is super sick, spendy but probably worth it for the ability to carry everything in a pack and being able to ride your bike to dig. That's dope that you can get a kit with the RH 60A, that's a very popular tool at the local group dig nights.

I've been full 29 for the last four years. This bike replaces a Specialized Enduro. I've only ever actually owned a 27.5 hardtail, other than that I went straight from 26 to 29. I don't have enough time on it to say anything definitive, but I do like having the big wheel in front of me. I am getting less butt buzz than I did on the Enduro, and it feels more maneuverable despite having the same length chainstay. I am not "playful" enough for front wheel size to really matter to me. I can have the same boring style on my 26" dirt jumper as I do on my 29er haha.

Also, a whole bunch of folks are running the new Patrol full 27.5. I've seen builds with 27.5 Boxers, 40's, Zebs, and 38's. Between the high and low bb settings, and a little math, you should be able to put whatever size front wheel on that you'd like.

Fun fact kashima is a scam your just paying for a anodized version of what makes bolts and screws at the a grey kinda speckle 🤠🤠totally worth 300-400$ more than a rockshox fork with a similar damper
