yea I'm pretty concerned about the judging when one hand drag isn't penalized then a far better run with another hand drag is 10 points lower.

Also, that Russian needs to quit throwing a wildcat off the canon rail kicker. But that slide under the hitching post was great.

what what what. Ok the judging seriously is fucked. How can someone get well over 80 when they don't even make one of the rails halfway before falling of then do a massive double hand drag one of the jump landings. That just doesn't make sense.

yea I give up on judging.

run 1 = run 2

run 1 has 1 hand drag

run 2 has 2 hand drags

run 2 scores over 90, better than run 1.



Am I missing something???? or does touching down not matter for some athletes? I mean a double hand drag cost one athlete 10 points but 2 singles gain you a few points?

I wish he wouldn't just do backside dub 10 frontside dub 10 to back trip.. think if a skier just did left dub 10 right dub 10 to triple? would be sick to see him at least hit a jump switch...

he still did pretty weak rail tricks and thats why he just got a 90 again...

how would you feel if a skier did 4 disaster to sw (i think he did a 4 on?) a slide to sw and then sw onto a down rail to straight then did a spin tap into left dub 10 right dub 10 to trip? pretty worth 90 especially with his kinda sketch landings on the last two jumps

fortunately, hes in 2nd right now so he'll make it to finals, so maybe he'll stop being a bitch and do hard rail tricks

Sage is sitting in second though and his second run score was the better of his two. He definitely put his hands down on a few landings in that run and Mark's run was super clean. Idk, really tough call.

How can you say marks run was super clean? is second jump landing was kinda sketch and he definitely hit a hand on his last jump.

And just because mark did a triple doesn't make his run harder than sages. I feel like NS ignores how weak most of the snowboard rail tricks have been.

and whats up with the rails aswell? i dont usually watch snowboarding events so im not sure if its just me or the rail game has been really really poor. seems like none of them are evening attempting a difficult rail trick.

How does everyone have such a strong opinion about SNOWBOARD judging?

Even during the xgames we dont hear this much, I myself will even admit i dont know a ton about snowboarding so I have a hard time figuring out what is 'good'. I know whats hard on rails and i can see left and right spinning but thats it. I had a buddy who snowboarder and knew about skiing but he couldnt judge skiing, he would freak out over dumb tricks etc and I feel like NS is trying to somehow make snowboarding skiing and judge it.


I'm sure skiing will be just like it always is, so no one will be satisfied.

I didn't get that either. McMorris is getting his dick sucked Shawn white style on Canadian broadcasts, like fuck, don't mention anything about the two guys who made it in the first round or anything. Maybe Parrot or Toots will need a gold to get some love

you don't need to snowboard to know that getting over 90 with 2 hand drags in a run is totally fucked.

also the fact that the scored were wildly all over the place with the top and bottom consistently being at least 10-15 points apart kinda points to judges who don't really know what they're doing. Also the 2nd judge (forget the country) was constantly constantly every time being one of the 2 scores booted off. So him especially clearly isn't a judge who's giving a score consistent to what the run deserves.

Yeah on the replay he definitely had a pretty tech rail section. Like Eheath said though it's snowboarding so I'm not totally sure what the hell is good and bad. The finals will be sick though. Pumped for em.

Haha yup, the other two are from Quebec which the rest of Canada tries to dissociate themselves from because we're french and resent federalism.

And god eheath why do you always have to be so whinny about everyone's comments. A lot of us watch/know snowboarding, this thread is about the slopestyle competition and we're going to voice our opinions, including out take on the judging. You don't have to take each one personally, calm down.

Yeah it was weird to hear Craig just say mcmorris as casual as all the other names. I'd be like "and here comes my bro Marc!!" Thought Craig did a super good job keeping trick names simple and understandable for the average viewer yet still accurate

He freaked a bit in qualifications, It also seemed like he was pointing out the other riders flaws more after mark got in, might have just been me though
