Best recipe: Rinotta is a tofu based cheese substitute. Spread it on the pizza under the sauce and do not add cheese. 1/4 cup minced garlic 3/4 cup olive oil Simmer garlic in oil until garlic is light tan. 1 tsp mustard powder 3/4 cup nutritional yeast 1 bunch parsley 2 tsp cayenne pepper 2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1 tsp onion powder 2 tbsp lemon juice 1 cup coconut milk 1/4 cup flour 2.5 cups raw cashews Combine all of these along with the garlic in a blender. 2-4 pounds (32-64 ounces) tofu Combine everything with mashed/crumbled tofu. I don't always simmer the garlic, sometimes I just add raw garlic and oil separately, and it turns out fine. If you do it this way, you don't have to mince the garlic, but you will have to put it in the blender first and blend it before everything else or it won't get blended finely enough. Blend everything long enough to combine everything, but it turns out better if you don't blend it for too long and leave the cashews very slightly chunky as opposed to letting it get very smooth.

ok now you've crossed the line...vegan poutine, thats just offensive. poutine should be a gluttonous mess of fries fried in animal fat such as duck fat, using cheese curds made fresh that day that haven't been refrigerated, and a veloute sauce made from fresh bone stock such as duck, flour and butter...then throw some fuckin foie gras on there and you've got your self a quality poutine. i'm almost scared to ask how you made that sauce, and was is that cashew cheese or some gross shit?

OP, as hypocritical as the very notion of this post is, coming from a vegan: don't tell people you're a vegan. When I was in high school I wanted to tell everyone about how evil they were and how fucked up the meat industry is, but ultimately it just causes negative division. Its very unlikely that you are going to talk about being vegan, and in turn someone is going to dramatically change a huge part of their life, so do it for you and because you believe in it, and accept other peoples' ways of life even if you don't agree with them.

well to answer your question. basically every "modern" poutinerie has vegan options. Same goes for hot dog places and usually burger joints. The toughest to find is a good vegan pizza but basically every city has a few of those as well.

not all of them do. some vegans don't even like plant meat. A lot of the time it's because they still like the taste of meat so they try to mimic it. It doesn't work so well with like a steak, but lots of other dishes can look and taste basically the same as meat. Vegan Chinese food is basically indistinguishable from normal Chinese food.

i could care less if you're a vegan, but the amount of fruit and shit my roommate gets all over our kitchen is absurd.

also, being gluten free and vegan is just ridiculous. how can you stand eating all the time? if you're constantly hungry wouldn't that mean that you're 'healthy diet' is actually malnourishing? him and his girlfriend literally starve themselves--and eating a shitload of avocado is not good for you no matter how much of a 'superfood' it is.

I respect not eating animals; I understand the ethical debate and I go vegetarian a lot just cause cheap meat is suspect. I was raised on a farm so I understand the importance of knowing where my food comes from. But I'd say eating fresh and local is more beneficial than being a full on herbivore.

i dont blame people for eating gluten free, often times its not something they can't do anything about if they are celiac, and gluten is legitimately bad for you in a few ways. It does eat up the lining of your stomach and is inflammatory by nature. But vegans make the choice to be vegan when they don't have to. if you wanna really piss off the cooks in the back of a restaurant, come in and ask for everything to be catered to your vegan needs.

Even though I am not vegan, I had a couple of samples of West-African style peanut brittle while in the closest Healthy Living Market from where I live (Saratoga, NY). baked paleo food is an oxymoron. you don't need to be eating anything baked at all...thats what i hate about a lot of people doing paleo and gluten free diets. they just look for ways to make alternatives to what they used to eat, instead of focusing on whats really healthy. something made out coconut flour and tapioca starch is naturally going to be quite devoid of nutrition. you can eat a paleo diet thats filled with delicous foods everywhere while not using any "substitutes." id take big plate of steak potatoes and broccoli, or salmon white rice and sauteed kale over brownies, pizza, or pasta any day haha.

yes that would be true paleo by definition, which i do not follow anyways. i guess you could say i'm closer to the primal diet if you have to put a label on it. people recently have been becoming more reasonable with things like tubers (sweet potatoes and whatnot) white potatoes are accepted by some although they do contain some toxins. white rice is considered by many to be a safe starch. the big reason for avoiding grains is the toxins (lectins and phytic acid) that they contain mostly in their brans. when the bran is removed from rice so are the majority of the toxins, leaving a quite pure source of starch. it's really the only true grain thats accepted, buckwheat is another thats accepted by some, buts thats more of a pseudo-grain. . there are pseudo grains i still wouldn't eat though, such as quinoa, which is very high in toxic saponins. you can say the same about the toxins in white vs whole wheat flour, but wheat has far too many of its own problems for white flour to be acceptable. this is all not to say that white rice should be a staple of your diet, there are many more nutrient dense foods out there. if you're like me though, and can use the extra carbs on the side, and like the taste of rice, then why not?

one day after skiing my head wasn't screwed on straight and I ordered some vegan bbq from kenosha steakhouse in breck. Huge mistake. Sick joke. Your body needs real protein.
Chipotle serves tofu now, and when you mix it with all that other stuff and a lot of tabasco, it's pretty good. And I've had a good spicy thai vegan wrap.
I've heard a lot of bad things about soy products though. Apparently soy is pretty bad for you, especially guys. turns men into girls

Nothing wrong with OP posting vegan pictures. The average American probably eats like 10x more meat than we really need to, we're just so used to it we've forgotten how to make a meal without centering around meat

If you eat a moderate amount of soy each day, it will have literally no effect on you. your body naturally maintains a ratio between testosterone and estrogen, and any change you might get from eating phytoestrogens in soy/flax/beans/whatever, gets immediately balanced.

That being said, there are cases where it seems it is possible to overdo it. One guy, who drank a gallon of soymilk a day, grew breasts and his balls shrivelled up. He was probably eating so many dietary estrogens that his body couldn't keep up.

But you can't think of it like "well a lot is really bad for you, so a little is a little bad for you". It just doesn't work like that. There are no studies that show that regular soy consumption has any effect on testosterone levels whatsoever. On the other hand, High body fat percentage is strongly linked to low testosterone levels. So if you are eating cheese and meat every meal, and start getting fat, then THAT is going to lower your testosterone.

That being said, it's possible to be a vegan and eat no soy. I did for 4 months before I did my research. It turns out that a lot of the stuff I was eating like beans and flax, also had phytoestrogens in them. I also found out that dairy had estrogen (animal estrogens) in it as well, and I had been drinking that my whole life with no problems. I guess it makes sense that a pregnant cow would produce milk high in estrogen haha.

I estimate I have a soy-based protein for maybe 1/6 meals. Fucking love tempeh burgers. Tofu on the otherhand is just gross most of the time. It seems like whenever I go out to a good vegan restaurant they make tofu taste like the most perfect thing in the world. Then I go home and try and replicate it and end up with bland, disgusting, tofu.

Except tofu scramble. I rock the shit out of tofu scramble.

As much as I'm against anyone who doesn't eat meat, vegans know how to make some really really good food, there's a vegan restraint near me that I are at recently and the food was amazing. Hate to support a business that's against eating meat, but I might have to go back..

if everybody in the world could leave their "you dont tell me what to do"-attitude behind and think rationally for a few seconds, vegetarian/vegan food would be without question the norm.

you can get everything you need for a healthy living, its more efficient economically and ecologically. furthermore, living creatures WITH pain sensors (before someone brings the argument that killing plants is also cruel) are not (depending on the country) treated like shit and slaughtered like nothing.

i try to reduce my meat consumption, i like eating meat since it tastes good, but there is literally NO VALID reason to eat meat and even less reason to defend it.

and i hate how people always look down on "minorities" that they "shove stuff up your throats". that has to be the dumbest "argument" ever. "oh no, dont tell me what to think, blablablabla", "i support the movement generally, but being up in your face is sooo bad". booo fucking hoo. how much stupid shit do you accept to get thrown at you in the internet, TV and other sources?

Vegan food can be pretty good. Can't beat a good steak though. To each their own I guess. I have a lot of vegan friends and even though they were doing it for "ethical" reasons, they have never tried to push it on me.
