This would be so rad for skiing, it would mean teams sponsoring a whole load more 'video guys' for one thing but there are a whole lot of obstacles. For one skateboarding is cheaper and easier to film, while at the same time the companies have bigger budgets because it's a bigger industry (than freeskiing at least).
Also people tend to just buy the board/width brand they like, usually one particular shape, a skateboard isn't a major investment so people are easier swayed. When you only ride a deck for 3-4 weeks and it costs 40-50 bucks, it's way easy to think 'oh i'll try something new, X had a good video' I'll give the board a go etc. With skis people tend to ride them at least a year, and the majority of consumers longer than that, a video probably has less sway, it's more of a consumer decision kind of thing.
It'd be rad to see it happen, because of what it means to the sport but I don't see it becoming the norm.

12 film projects released in the single month of September when there is zero snow on the ground anywhere seems to be about the most illogical thing ever. I have always felt odd about going to the new "premiere" when it is 70 degrees out in my hometown and the only people attending are the die-hard, already established fans (few). I have a hard time not believing you could reach a larger audience should a film release during a time (NOT September) when winter, snow, and skiing have a broader relevance to the public at large.

I agree for the most part but I feel as though skiers in videos has just as much of an impact if not more on the purchasing habit of kids in skiing then it does in snowboarding.

Skateboard technology is all super similar, there is no crazy technology revolution in skateboarding on the regular like there is in skiing and because of that I feel as though skateboarders purchasing habits are based mainly on graphic and like you said their favourite skater.

I feel as though a team movie in skiing would be wicked because it could showcase how one companies technology is able to out perform all other companies.

For example Armadas team movie you would have Riley Leboe destroying pillows on JJS, Kenworthy and Torin Yater Wallace tearing up the comp scene on Ar7s, B dog killing urban and pushing style on T-Halls, Henrick winning x games golds and cruisin on whatever the fuck skis those were, Hornbeck putting up crazy segments with alpha ones and halos, guys like Bellamare doing whatever the fuck they do and then JAH KING TANNER and the always influential JP Auclair to hold it all down.

It would be an incredible opportunity for a company to showcase their entire line of skis with insane riding on a huge scale that would be noticed.
