It's a rev share program, like what youtube does. People who a part of the producer program make a certain amount of money for a certain amount of views.

The best way to get yourself into future waves of additions to the program is to continue producing awesome content on the site!

We always pick people who are popular on Newschoolers. Everything we do - now and into the future - is about the community liking stuff. So our opinion matters very little compared to if people on here like what you do.
