Oh. Well go to college somewhere close ish to the beach.
There are networks of people that surf the great lakes. I never got the chance. Ontario doesn't get the waves as often and I'm not there at the right times with my board. I live like 3 hours away but my grandparents have a cottage on a bay.
Def pretty cool that you can surf fresh water. I want to do it at some point. You're prolly gonna want to get a long board.
The waves in the great lakes are generally smaller and less powerful. They don't have that thick beefy punch of the ocean waves. Also the you're a little less buoyant in freshwater than saltwater.
I may have to end up going the ocean route for grad school. Love the mountains but I feel like its something I need to experience, especially considering the abundance of good looking girls compared to the mountains. How long does it take to get decent at surfing?
definitely true. first surfed when i was 15, got a board when I was 16 (surfed couple times a summer). now I go to school in Maine where I can surf most of the year when there's waves and I'm definitely competent, can hold my own in crowded lineups and can basically get on any wave I want. I'm 20 now. definitely takes a while but once you catch the bug theres no going back.
