Marker Griffon Advice

Hey NewSchoolers, I have a few questions and want to ask for your advise. I was wondering what everyone thinks about the Marker Griffons? Lightweight? "Overpriced Plastic"? all that stuff. I was looking at a pair and thinking about throwing them on my new Rossi S4s. I like the idea of my light Rossi's with a pair of light bindings. They are the 174s and the Griffons have a break-width of 90. Also, (this might be a dumb question) but what din would I be good at?
Here's my info:
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 180lbs (81Kg)
Skiing Ability: Intermediate - Advanced, Mostly Aggressive
I ski mostly park and hike alot, (are they easy to step out and into)?
Jumps: mostly like 20-30 footers, nothing to crazy.
Also, I think my brother has the Jesters from a few years back and he complains sometimes about them Pre-Releasing alot? I was wondering if that was the Jesters or the Griffons that tend to do that. Any Advice gets +K as always. Thanks guys.

I got the Griffons last year and really liked them! They do have a plastic frame so it can get scratched really easily and the color kinda scratches off...but those are just the cosmetic blemishes. Performance wise I really like them! Mine never pre- release. Ever. Only when I crash bad do they pop of (as they should) so yeah I suggest them.

I like my griffons alot, the only bindings which have lasted for more than a season under me. But i've heard people having problems with markers combined with fulltilts/dalbellos. (not sure if it was just the 10/11 model of the binding)
But i've understood that the front part of the boot doesnt quite fit the binding, and might cause wobbling of the boot in the binding and pre-release.
My skis tend to pop off when getting grip on rails doing pretzel blinds out, not sure tough if thats just something with the front parts pressure. Need to check that when the season starts.
I still recommend the binding, very durable and not too pricy.

I've never realy had a problem with them. Got em on two pairs of skis. Did jus change to some rossi bindings just because everyones hyped em up so much, wanted to make my own mind up.

marker bindings suck i would go with looks or rossis

People who had problems with griffons were from the first couple years when marker was trying to dial in the System. The royal line has only been in sales since 2007. Griffon came out in 2008. It's only been on the market for 4/5 years. Supposedly this years griffons are the best so far (supposedly). I havent got my hands on one to check out yet but from reliable friends I hear it's hell alot better. If you get griffons get newer ones I'd say.

either youre an idiot or biased the marker griffon bindings have greatly improved from their earlier days and are one of the best bindings for the money today i have always liked trying new things and have put other bindings on my skis but have always went back to markers id get em

id go with about a 15 din you are kinda heavier for your height and if you ski agressivly you dont want them to release when it isnt necessary

griffons suck for park. gliding afd plate alone should make you avoid them. if u go markers get jester pros. otherwise go with an salomon sth driver or maybe looks if u dont mind the weight.

What is wrong with gliding afd plate for park?

I have griffons on my Rossi S3s with Dalbello boots and never had any problems last year.

griffons are really good, i have them on 2 different pairs of skis and they are great. The only reason I would not recommend them for you is because you hike a lot, which means you will step on the heal peace (made out of plastic) a lot to unclip the boot. This plastic has never been a problem for me, but since the hiking thing i might think it might be a problem for you.

I have 10/11 griffons, and I love them, haven't had any problems ever. And I hike a lot of stuff too, and the plastic holds up really good when stomping on the back every 2 minutes.
