Aaaron.the ek43 is everything. perfect particle size, perfect distribution, and it spins really fast, which has all sorts of benefits for the grind. also, i drank a siphon of an Colombian Agua Claras earlier today. That would definitely round out the whole package for showing off and being pretentious, but I am low on space and those Halogen Elements take up a lot of space so I'm sticking with a Butane Burner. Plus nothing drops panties like blue flames.

the encore is great! it will step your whole game up. I used a vario for a while and I highly recommend that as well! If you're willing to spend a few hundred more
I've been using a Hario Mini for my Aeropress and it has been great so far! Plus it's muuuuuuch cheaper. Grinding for a minute can kind of suck at 6 in the morning but it's all good.
I picked one of these up as well so I never need to get more filters.
Also I just made some cold brew for the first time this week and this stuff is the shit and saves me about 5 minutes each morning. Plus I don't have to worry about my coffee getting cold because it's already cold!

That's ridiculous. I don't think a La Mazarcco will ever be in my future, but I definitely plan on upgrading to something with a double boiler and e61 grouphead at some point. In the meantime, I'm just stoked I picked up a sweet, new in box, grinder for half price.

I've had this setup for about a year now (rocket r58 & eureka zenith e65). only things I've added are a bottomless porta filter and a bigger, heavier tamper.
seriously tho, love my black kicking horse 454 from a french press, but its gotten to the point of needing 28-32 ounces of coffee to feel normal each day, which means a solid hour of making and drinking or spending money and travel time on timmies or coffee shops. anyone know any strategies to help cut back? nothing I've tried seems to work

Suck it up? Cut back and then aim for quality over quality? French press is good, but I prefer a pour-over set-up (Hario, Kalita, Chemex, etc) with a quality hand grinder (Hario, Porlex, etc) and a scale. I used to have a small space set up for coffee in my office and it was great.
Tim Horton's is possibly some of the worst coffee out there. I'd rather go without than drink that crap.

A whole hour per day and that includes drinking your coffee? What do you have to complain about. Drink more french press coffee if you want to. I brew and drink that much every morning and then drink more coffee in the afternoon. Best strategy is not to limit yourself and to drink as much coffee as you want.
Been using the Aeropress lately. For anyone in Boston area, hit up Polcari's Coffee on Salem St in the North End. Amazing coffee and awesome owners. My family always stocks up on French Roast whenever we're in the city.

Honestly pretty disappointed in Canadian Tim Hortons. I have never been able to get an iced coffee there ever. Not in Fort Erie. Not in Niagara Falls. Not in Vancouver.
I like it though. I never really get anything fancy. If I wanted some specialty thing I'd probably consider going somewhere else just cause I'd be willing to spend more and try something else out but yeah. I've never had coffee from Starbucks. And I have only had an iced coffee from dunkin once but it made me sick. So Tim Hortons does me good for now hahaha.
I saw on the interwebs that they were expanding to Europe(maybe England?) which is interesting.

On that note I drink a cup of aeropress each morning and then some shitty coffee brewed at work in order to keep me going on slow days. I wish I could drink more but if I have any caffeine after about 3 PM I struggle to sleep at night.
Anyone in Cleveland stop at Rising Star Coffee Roasters? I'm going to head by when I am up for the holidays and was wondering if anyone has a favorite. I've tried a couple of their roasts but am open for suggestions.
So... upgrading from the Rancilio to the Bezzera has been amazing. The HX system makes things so much easier and consistent than life with the Silvia.
That said, time for another upgrade. I entered a giveaway earlier this month and ended up winning, so I'm going to be getting a Profitec Pro 500 espresso machine, a Mazzer Mini E Type A grinder, a bunch of accessories, cups and some beans. Needless to say, I'm beyond stoked. Also, means I'm going to gift my current set-up to my best friend and his wife (who are huge coffee geeks as well, but don't currently have an espresso set-up).
