In some need of help whenever I spin and hit rails my body seems to tense way up which makes it so much harder to be smooth and could really use some pointers on how to loosen or relax my body.

I would like to share one more thing I learned in my public speaking class today.

In times of stress your body sends excess blood to your brain to allow enough oxygen/nutrient flow for your brain to operate at an optimal level. There are two possible ways to cope with this.

The first most simple way is to influence your body to send the blood to other parts of your body. This can easily be done by doing a few jumping jacks, or other exercises to get the blood flowing.

The second method requires immense discipline. I am still learning about this process, but you can use this stress to your advantage once you master it. The feeling of adrenaline can result in increased awareness. Which can help immensely

Listen to chill music when your skiing, none of this aggressive dubstep nonsense. Mellow yourself out and translate that to the rails.

Personally, I just take a deep breath before I drop in, close my eyes and just see myself doing the trick. It really helps if you know exactly what you are trying to do before you get on the rail. Also (like stated above) try and use adrenalin to your advantage and just let your body flow off the rail... I know this might sound beat but the more you do it, the more style you will have... Practice!

Without seeing you actually do it....I'm gonna speculate that your not tucking your initial spin. I've seen this before. Your spin is too straight legged and when you land on the rail there's no shock absorption which makes it look and feel real sketchy. Try to bring your knees up higher in the spin and land on the rail with your knees bent. That should solve 90% of the problem. The other 10% I'd imagine is a touch of fear once you get on the rail due to the spin disorienting you.

I suggest doing a few tricks that you can land consistently and work on relaxing as you approach the rail or jump.

make sure you wait til after you land a trick to erect an afterbang or else you will be too stiff to do any tricks at all.
