How did you become a park skier?

I'm intrested in how other people chose to go do freestyle instead of doing other types or skiing. I started after at a young age doing jumps and the big butter boxes, after a while of quiting park for at least 2 years I came back to it, and advanced a bit better then after starting getting good, I realized that this skiing was more fun than any other type, and stuck to freestyle progressed. Now im hooked on it and do at least 90% park. :P

Care to share to? I search bar'd and nothing came up. sooooo if this is a repost then lul. :3

When I was a little kid I always like hitting all the little jumps on the sides of runs. Once our mountain got a park, that was just the next natural step. Essentially I just started because I kept doing what was fun.

Honestly, this site. My dad got me a pair of twin tip skis, the rossi troubled youth i think. I had no clue what they were for so i googled "twin tip skiing" and "free style skiing" and came across this site. now, i, on here 5+ hours a day and skiing is my life.

I always skied, hitting any drops, jumps, whatever I could until the first pair of teneightys came out. I snagged a pair, and have since just really enjoyed freesking.

my much older friend i was skiing with when i was about 10 or so showed me boxes in the mini park, and after that i would go in their about once a day and slide them. then i started going off small jumps and by age 12 or so i tried some grabs i found on www.niftytricks.com and tried to slide some stuff sideways. after that i was hooked, although still on non-twins, i tried to learn a list of grabs and stuff. it wasnt until the season of 09-10 when i got my first set of twintips, jr. fischer addicts. and thats when i first really began skiing mostly park. now, 1 year later, im addicted...

always tried to go through the mini parks while skiing with my parents was i was a little kid and i would go straight on the boxes and off the sides of jumps haha i was quite the joey then i started skiing more park and learned how to actually hit jumps and boxes and ive been doing that ever since

used to race, probably like when i was 8 mabye 9 i went over to the park before my race to go over jumps and kids tried to teach me to hit a rail. they told me it made my race skis go faster too. raced a few more years, quit. now ski park all of the time.

I first got a pair of twin tips because they made a cool rooster tail effect with the snow. My dad bought me a pair and I found out what they were actually for.

me and my best friend, since like 7 years old, would always sneak into the park while we were in racing and hitting boxes straight with our race skis. then after racing was done we would run to the locker and switch to twintips and go have a good time in the park. watching videos of like '1800' and 'crazy train park' and 'double misty 1440' is what really helped us get into it. 7 years later, still loving it. im DGski and this is my story.

started racing all I wanted to do was ski in the park so I quit racing once I got from trying my school race team and just stopped racing and now all I do is park ski.

Did racing till I was about 13, got a bored of it and took my race skis to the park. Bought a pair of twin tips and it just started. All my friends got into it and it's been pretty awesome. Can't imagine life without it.

Always was a racer but switched mountains and my one buddy there started skiing park more so i joined him now I still coach racing but when i'm not making money doing that I'm in the park

well started skiing before i could walk got on the racing track ill i was 5 then picked up snowboarding when i was 12 i decided i wanted to buy some "twintips" just to dick around when i got tired of snowboarding, i ended up growing out of my snowboarding shit which i was super bummed about and since i had no money because i dropped it all on skis i had to do it full time tried to snowboard again the year after and felt although i had forgotten everything so i kept up skiing and now here i am

i was always hitting the jumps on the sides of runs and stuff, and i always liked watching snowboarders in the park, tried snowboarding once, realized that it sucked, and bought some twinners. i like pow better tho

Always liked hitting jumps, learning new things and also showing people new stuff. So ever since l was little l would hit jumps try to get all my friends to because l found "regular" skiing boring, for the last 3 years l have only done park l love the risk but also getting better.

You know, it's kinda funny..... my friend and I were skiing in Big Sky Montana, and we had an awesome mentor, Dan Greene. I had just gotten a pair of twin tip k2s and wanted to learn how to ski backwards, so Dan taught me, this summer, I spent a week at Windells Session 6, Megan Gunning was my teacher.... and I got to sesh with Tom Wallisch.... it was so awesome.

Started skiing when I was like 4 and hit every side jump, cornice, drop whatever all very small obviously. Then like 3-4 years ago just realized how cool it was ridin up the lift watchin bros throw down and then I started skiing park and Now I slay harder than anyone... ever /claim

well through the start of my skiing career i was always under the impression that park was where all the snowboarders go to injure themselves. until one time up night skiing my uncle who was on the ski patrol took me through the park, just airing over the rollers. after overshooting to flat a few times i sacked up and hit a jump. and it didnt hurt!! and after that night my view on the park had changed forever.

Saw a dude hitting a rail in the "snowboard park" with the bright orange 1080's, in like 99? Had never realized what they were until I saw a pair at a store. My brother got some and i just naturally followed, dont really touch the park anymore though.
