Apollo Zero: Did man really make it to the moon?

Good day newschoolers!

I know all of us here have an opinion about almost EVERYTHING, and we're good at getting into heated discussions. Here's your chance.

It's an hour long, but its probably one of the more interesting hours you're going to experience in your life.

Now I'm super proud of the human race for doing all the shit we've done, including the moon missions, but this documentary made it impossible for me to believe they actually happened. There is enough conclusive evidence to prove that it is almost impossible to get to the moon - let alone get to the moon in the late 60's early 70's. I'm usually not a skeptic, but this movie turned me into one.

It sucks the space race ended, it really showed how fast we can generate new technologies. I feel like Americans, me included, have lost a lot of the drive/curiosity that made this country successful. I hope I live to see a human step on Mars. Space is the future.

hubble was meant to see unbelievable distances, not anything even remotely nearby. Trying to look at the moon with it would be like trying to read a newspaper with a microscope. Overpowered and impossible.

A regular telescope would do just fine because most are not intended to see so far. I've actually read that with a really high quality pair of binoculars it's possible to see some tracks.


oh and the fact that we sent a probe around the moon, and it took pictures of the landing sites...that makes it pretty clear that we landed.

Oh, I don't dispute that we were on the moon. I think the disbelievers are retarded. But no person has seen a man made object on the moon since the last Apollo mission. There's just no telescope powerful enough. If you think about it, the moon is roughly 240,000 miles away. No binoculars are powerful enough to seen a 10' object that far away, especially through the atmosphere. A quick google search will confirm this.

a quick google search would also show results for the recent moon orbiter which took pictures of landing sites from all the different Apollo missions

But even with today's technology, and being within the moon's orbit, you can barely make out anything. Hopefully some day soon-ish they'll be able to get super high res pics of the surface good enough to see the objects.

Firstly, the reason they only go 200-400 is because thats where they can orbit and thats the location of the ISS, anything further than that would be pointless unless you were going to a planet/moon.

Second, going to the moon is NOT like circling the earth 30 times, its traveling the diameter of the earth 30 times, big difference

Third, In space fuel and distance are not a linear relationship, you could travel 225,000 miles or 5,000,000 miles on the same amount of fuel

Fourth, your a woman so that really explains why i had to explain all of this......

The retroreflectors (mirrors used as targets for Earth-based tracking lasers) from the Lunar laser ranging experiment is evidence that there were landings.

What I'm sure the film fails to point out however is that the moon is in fact hollow and there is some real funky shit going on over on the 'dark' side of it.

Hate to argue but....the hubble telescope CAN take photos of the moon very well, just not well enough to get it focused to see the lunar craft, the hubble space telescope was designed for deep space observation. The observatory i viewed the lunar craft on was the gemini observatory in arizona and what we did was point the telescope at the moon and watch it for a bit, though it was moving so quick they were difficult to see and realllly small, but you can re-play the recorded images and view them in higher resolution and not moving. it is an extremely small craft but from what we could see we saw the apollo 18's landing sight and it was loaded with rover tracks and footsteps disturbances etc, and the craft looked something like this:

In response to the overwhelming influx of arguments proving the moon landings DID in fact happen, I henceforth renounce my past beliefs that they were a hoax. I needed to be argued with in order to finally agree but I look back and feel exceptionally embarrassed that I didn't do enough research and that I argued FOR something I knew very little about. Thanks for steerng me away from idiocy, NSG.

This is probably the best documentary I've ever watched. All NASA and news footage from the 60s and the only guys who talk are the dudes that have been to the moon. If you get the chance, watch it.

neither do i but most likely since the belts trap excess solar radiation released by the sun, you would just have to arrive at a time when very little fallout from solar flares is present in the belts.

do you know how many times the space shuttle orbits the earth on average per mission?
between 25 and 40. and it has a considerably harder job considering it has to use fuel to keep from crashing in to earth and maintaining its orbit speed.

the voyager spacecraft which weighs 773 kgs, is propelled predominantly by a xenon propulsion system which produces only a few grams of thrust, less than a sheet of paper resting on your hand. it is currently more than 10.2 billion miles from earth...

fuel isnt an issue
