Found out I'm subbing for the first time tomorrow. It's just helping out a kid with some autism. I'm way nervous though. I haven't really dealt with a special needs kid before, well I've never been in charge of one. So hopefully it goes well.
I have first hand experience in the awful treatment of special education kids unfortunately. My school did nothing for me. Basically told me i was stupid and was going no where in life.
special education takes a backseat in this country and it's sad. can't even begin to tell you the amount of times my parents have pulled hairs with schools over my 504 plan.
Same here man. My parents refused put me on anything and I'm super glad they did. People in the education system look at ADD as a behavior issue. They don't realize how tough it makes school.
unfortunately, I was put on an adult dosage of adderall at like age 6 because this teacher was threatening to kick me out of the class, and my parents really didn't have a clue to what was really going on until we met with a psychologist in between 3rd and 4th grade. i got into middle school and they worked with me on my plan, had plenty of time to do the stuff I needed to. we moved out to utah, and its just been a bitch to get these teachers to work with us. one school said they wouldn't recognize it as a part of some BS student confidentiality thing, another school i remember i had a rough day in class, got upset, teacher pulled out of class and basically asked what was wrong with me.
fortunately i have a sweet tutoring place i go to now and it makes shit so much easier. and the lady that runs it majored in special ed, so i really respect and appreciate what shes doing.
it just needs to be taught better to school admins, policy makers, teachers, principals, I think.
i should add the same teacher that threatened to kick me out was that same 3rd grade teacher. the lady was a royal bitch, even thinking back on that shit today.
Calvin Harris is seriously good at producing a beat, then getting a hawt sexy voice on top of that shit. Basically knows the way to progressive house dominance.
The WUE thing is the only thing I am worried about, I think it is kind of hard to get it and you have to apply early, etc. If I can't get that I am going to be bummed because I really want to get out of CO
