Climbers: are there like intro courses to basic rope systems and anchors and stuff for dummies? I want to learn it as a skill for work but need like a simplified understanding of it. Today we toyed with pully systems and 3:1 and 5:1 rescue systems and it was cool but I still feel dumb

Plenty in person and YouTube. Should be some local guides where you are at to get started. Calling your local gym would be a good start. You would probably be looking at rope systems and self rescue stuff from what you said.
I kinda learned on the fly, it's really easy to pick it up when your life depends on it. I used to grab a kitchen chair and practice rope ties on it YouTube also helped but mainly having the mindset of "if I screw up I die" really helps you think through it.

Yeah interested in doing more. I've done lift evac training with Petzl IDL systems for belaying and yeah kinda had that mindset of "if I fuck up, my buddy dies" as a newbie to ropes and it worked out. I'm just a skinny fuck who is short and need like 2 people to back up belay me.

Crypto breaking my heart tonight… somehow salvaging a little bit but hot damn.
My coworker (who has made over $250k in crypto the past couple years) swore by XRP and trump being elected (he HATES trump) would mean good things for the market. But I guess that’s how the cookie crumbles lol he cashed out last week profiting $55k. Maybe I should have done the same 😂
grammys are so funny cause it’s literally just rich people patting other rich people on the back. the battle of who made the most mid album of the year. don’t even get me started on kanye’s kim kardashian replacement showing up butt ass naked. like how the FUCK does shaboozey or benson boone deserve a “best new artist” nomination, there’s nothing the best about either of them.

The state of Country Music is the most depressing part, we went from Townes Van Zandt to Post Malone in a half century how did rural America let this happen

Townes van zandt isn’t country to be fair but year

I have heard the argument that he's not country before but I never really understood it because that argument usually labels him as folk music, and folk isn't a genre it's a description of the origins of the music, and TVZ was born to a wealthy oil money family so I don't think he can be folk just based off of his upbringing. Unless there is a niche genre you would put him in that idk about (super possible)

it’s literally all just a money grab. soulless pop country is all the rage and everyone wants a piece of the profits, so they’ve suddenly switched. it’s not even necessarily the fault of record companies either as the general population is eating this garbage up. beyoncé getting AOTY????? it’s not good!

Folk is a genre for sure as well as a historical tool. Tvz is solidly folk imo

I would rather music didn't exist then listen to pop country. Pop music is fine, it is what it is, and is fun to listen to sometimes. Whatever most country music I hear people playing now is just awful.
Outlaw and alternative country are alright and growing on me.

I’ve just started getting into some country style music and recommend Sturgill Simpson

@frickindarn was a cool dude. Also chatted with him a few times on here. Never met him either.
See you on the otherside, brother. We'll all be skiing together in Valhalla eventually.

@frickindarn was working for Level1 and sold me some 4frnt YLEs 10 years ago. He packed them up with Level 1 branded packing tape and when I got home from work to find that on my porch I was so stoked. Definitely something I will never forget. I love those skis and ended up doing one entire season on them. Never met in person but had this great connection over one of my favorite skis ever. Was not connected to him other than NS. Super sad to read he has transitioned on. If anyone is connected to his family please share with them that he had a lot of friends on here and in the ski community
Thegenericskierguess i am officially washed, did not get accepting into the MSU rail jam :/ (i got second last year)
show up anyway lol. just act like your in and drop in. no one will notice until its too late and then they have to let you compete otherwise they look like idiots
armchair_skierShould I take a job in Fort Collins?
I really love fort collins but it is far from skiing. Also, compared to other places in CO wages don't seem to be that high for some reason. Housing is somewhat cheaper tho. Do if you want a badass small city to enjoy, I'd live there in a heartbeat if my job didn't tie me up elsewhere

Eldora seems pretty close, I am mostly a park fiend anyway. Also if I get an Ikon I can sneak some days in at Jackson Hole which is only like 6-7hrs away

If you're already driving an hour and a half to eldora it's worth the extra half hour to go somewhere up i70 imo. There's also hoedown hill and snowy range lol but you'll love it man. Fort collins is really hard to beat in the spring/summer/fall, you'll get tired of the drive to ski after a while, trust me.
Edit: almost forgot Cameron pass. Awesome awesome awesome backcountry up there if you're into that sort of thing.

I dig fort collins but yeah it is far from skiing. Eldora is close, then Cameron pass is somewhat close for BC. If you are doing an Ikon then steamboat and winter park are your best bet.
Cool town though. Im there a few times a year visiting family...... Bike ability is great, beer scene is great, good concerts in the area, hunting and front range access are good. College gives decent nightlife etc.
