OregonDeadhow is it going to be like summer tomorrow in Idaho?
r00kieSummer is basically tomorrow in my world it seems. Also, today marks one year of living in Idaho for me. That was fast.
newlife_oldworldNatalie Imbruglia....... nuff said
r00kieIt's more work related. We do a lot of summer stuff so raft training, communication with groups, getting seasonal staff sorted makes summer seam really close.
weatcoastit's felt like summer here in pa since February started. quite surreal. The fact that I can't ski right now only contributes to that too lmao

Farmville420All 4 grandparents lol, but my family still in Italy hate my American family for being “traitors” and “cowards” for moving away during war. They won’t even let me or my parents meet them, told us to change our last name. Real assholes, the euro foreign exchange students at my school were also pretentious fucks so that also didn’t really help my feelings lol
Young_pattyFeel you dawg. My dads side of the family immigrated to the US from Sicily to capitalize on prohibition (ran an illegal liquor trade out of the twin cities).
My grandma married my grandpa who was Irish and got kicked out of her family for a loooooong time, and even after she was allowed back in we’ve always been kept at arms reach. Like I’ve met my relatives from that side maybe once or twice when I was really little but outside of that I have never been allowed to meet them.
Pops said the last time he talked to them was when he was like 16, they stopped by to tell his parents that one of their “uncles” (though he doubted they were actually related) had died from a “hunting accident”. No one is certain what happened but we’re all pretty sure he was whacked. And ever since then we’ve barely communicated with them.
But anyway, I feel ya, it’s weird how racist Europeans can be to each other. Like I’ve essentially never met a big part of my family because I’m part Irish… and they hate us because of it.
Like growing up my friends would tease me and say “someday You’re gonna join the mob” but literally I couldn’t even if I wanted to, because I’m part Irish and not 100% Italian and Grandma’s side of the Family hates us because she didn’t marry a nice traditional Italian man like they wanted.

BradFiAusNzCoCaWow that’s brutal. Guess it makes more sense. We had some foreign Exchange students in high school that were kind of weird too.
My wife is Finnish and her brothers all watch NFL more than me and love golf and hockey and throwing brews back. I always have a great time with them but I, also, don’t have any history with them like that.
Who will be the euro to volunteer to be friends with FarmVille to show him all euros don’t suck? Lol
Farmville420Finland is fine. I’m talking more the western and central euros specifically. Like the European ass Guten tag countries. We had kids from Germany, Holland, and France at our school and they spent every second of their life roasting everything about us Americans and our country to the point where even if it was valid criticisms it was just fuckin obnoxious. A lot of the European kids and adults I’ve met in my life acted like their countries were so much better, and like we’re all just racist and stupid. Even though they throw banana peels at black soccer players and fly across the world to study at our schools, shit left a bad taste in my mouth. There are definitely chill Euros but I just haven’t met them. Met shitty Americans tho, but I’ve also met enough absolute homies to offset negative feelings.

BradFiAusNzCoCaYeah I get that. I think Dutch are some of the funniest people I’ve ever met but you probably had the spoiled born with spoon in mouth douches who could afford to study abroad. I can see how German speakers can turn some people off. I absolutely do not think Europeans are less racist, especially Southern Europeans.
People are always talking shit. To be honest, I heard it the most from Aussies about America. It was like they had a chip on their shoulders sometimes about America. Brits can be like that too. I had coworkers, British, in nz tell me “oh I get why Americans can’t get a working holiday visa to Canada. If they could, you’d all just move to Canada”.. that was the only time I actually got pissed. I was like “surely you, a BRIT in NEW ZEALAND, are not telling me that AMERICANS would invade CANADA”. They could not see the irony..
Also if you’re in Europe and a group is drunk and loud.. probably British Lmao

CoolChillGuy420Everyone post the song that has been stuck in your head all day:
Call From You - No Pressure
0sumKnow it's a pretty naive view of the world, but depressingly everywhere is gonna have people that are racist against each other, and for the most part, the world seems to converge to an offensively average level of racism. (Obviously with huge exceptions and my small worldview).
As a brit, yeah we rightly get the bad tourist, drunk, lads hols shit, but mostly due to a minority of hooligans who take every opportunity to watch a footy match in the sun as also an opportunity to get hammered on cheap booze. Actually annoying as well, want to travel and see Amsterdam just cause it's a nice place and has some Museums I want to see (+ love cycling about) but the secondhand embarrassment would be too much.
What's the deal with German speakers, not liking the accent?
0sumWe're not all bad I swear, private international school kids aren't the best people the continent has to offer either.
Think naturally the US is gonna get a bad rep over here just cause the only time you'll hear about it is in the news, which of course means you'll hear all the bad stuff/negatively, that and everyone hates tourists in their back garden.
Got plenty of Americans coming over here for uni too, mine full of them.
CoolChillGuy420Shit. I somehow moved here when I was 12 with my family from MI to SLC, and I am officially throwing my towel in. Fuck this place first off and second of all, fuck greedy mormons and techbros/californians/anyone with money who helped with the Great Gentrification of mountain towns because your shitty skiing-ass wanted to live slopeslide or something or put your kids through a ski team because you don't have the heart enough to teach your own. Officially sending in my retirement papers for this fuckin' smog-filled shithole.

CeleryPhibes (apparently a big drum and bass duo) is doing a show in Banff on the 13th and all my British roommates are trying to convince me to do mdma and go to the show. It sounds like such a terrible experience ngl.

weatcoastThese places won’t be open for skiing in 10 years. They’ll run outta business and go broke.
