Trampoline vs. backyard setup...

yeah my yard is pretty small so basically i only have room for one or the other. which one in your opinion is more cheap/fun/beneficial for your skiing?

I don't have a trampoline, but my backyard setup helped my brother and I to get way better at a bunch of rail tricks  (switch ups, reg/blind 270s, k feds, etc..) definitely worth it to build one

Think about it this way. i know plenty of people who can throw down on a tramp, yet can't off a jump. While with a backyard setup, i've never heard of anybody not being able to do something that they learned to do in the backyard in a different setting.

this is kind of what i was thinking. although there both skiing related, backyard setup is more directly skiing related. i feel like it might more directly progress your skiing

Summer set up will be cheaper for sure, obviously a rail in your backyard won't help you do jumps and a tramp won't help you do rails.

tramps definitely there so fun and make you lots better in the air
jib setups just beat on your skis and they really dont compare at all to real skiing, its just too much work for something that isnt that worth it

id say def go for the tramp

this is very true. u can just go out for a break from homework or whatever for a couple minutes and jump on a tramp. i have a backyard rail and a tramp, and i think that the rail is better at helping you progress because its exactly what youll find at a slope, but a trampoline will take you so much further because you can just keep progressing. rails are great practice, but for your backyard id say trampoline

You obviously haven't ski'd a jib setup have you..?
Before I even began park skiing, i seshed a summer setup, and learned so much. ex. 270's off/switchups before my first 360..

Jib setups do fuck with your skis, but they are very very beneficial, and it keeps you intact for the upcoming season. Tramps are still mad fun.

Tramps suck unless you buy a good one. Mine was like $300 and it sucks shit, i can barely get enough air to to hucked fronts and 7's. You might aswell build a good jib setup, and then go tramp at a gymnastics place, they ussually have open sessions and it will cost you like $5 a person for a couple hours.

I found that unless you can have your setup actually setup all the time, its just a pain to drag it all out into place and setup for maybe an hour sesh with a friend. It helps a ton for learning rail tricks though, if you go that route make sure you go for gold and make a solid setup.

Dude is this even a question? Get a tramp forsure, who cares if it does not directly affect your skiing. They are just way more fun and anyone can do it. So much more chill with your friends who dont even ski.

^And you can tamp at gym's in the winter. You can't really use your backyard tramp in the winter.

I have a trampoline but i want a bkyrd set up cuz im ass at rails. I have a big yard so i'll just build a hella dank one this summer. But as for learning, go with a backyard set up. As said above people can throw down on tramps, but not jumps. I can misty 7 on tramps yet i can't 3 on jumps. haha :)

Tough decision. I can throw down on a tramp and it helps with spins up to corks. Cause you can do corks all you want on a tramp but you throw in the weight of skis and boots into that cork and its a completely different story. I know this from experience.... But either way you'll be stoked on life. But probably get the tramp cause you can alway make a set up at a friends house.

As much as I love my rail set up, trampoline is the way to go, back yard set up takes so much effort to set up during summer and getting water and soap constantly going and boots are mad hot in the middle of summer, and nothing beats learning some banger air tricks for the next season

wow lots of good stuff in this thread. im just going to wait and see if i actually can get a nice tramp. i have my neighbors old one that i got for free right now and its really tiny and shitty. throwing anything on it is sketch as hell.

I think tramp. You may end up using it more because you need no gear prep before you go bouncing. You don't need to plan the fun.

won't improve your rail game
can't make ski edits on them, just tramp edits... (quite obvious)


another reason to go for a tramp is that it'll allow you to practice inverts you usually wouldn't want to try first on snow...

while anything you try on a backyard setup could also be tried first on real snow ....
you get my point ?

hey i have a tramp but im looking for something to substitute for skis on it. i was thinking maybe duck tape my feet to some pool noodles that id cut to make feel like skis.?????

trampoline for sure, you get the feeling of corks, mistys, and rodeos etc.. and first summer with trampoline is sooooo sick learning all corks and mistys, dude you will have great time with trampoline! I know you'll take it ;)
